Sydney Embarkation

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me what the story is with Royal Caribbean's departure from Sydney? It appears from the itinerary that the ship actually sails on the 2nd day. Does that mean we board on day 1, overnight in Sydney and then depart on the 2nd day? I've never experienced this before. Can someone who's done it explain the procedure to me? Thank you!

Although it feels a little odd to be on a ship for a night that doesn't leave the dock, there are advantages as you are settled in and can go out when you please. The ship's casino and shops are not open.

Being on Sydney Harbour for the night can be a real trip with incredible views.

Yes, you will board on the first day and use the ship as if it is a hotel the first night. The advantage is that it allows people to fly in the first day of the cruise although I do not recommend that. I would fly in a few days ahead of time to get over the jet lag and to enjoy Sydney.

Using the ship as a hotel in Sydney is perfect. There is so much to see within very easy walking distance of the pier! Great shops and restaurants, the Opera House, the bridge (do a bridge climb!), spectacular scenery. If you like photography, you'll probably take hundreds of photos - something great around every corner. Enjoy!

You lucky person! :-)

Plenty of time in my old home town....

As "kartgv" suggested, do the BRIDGE CLIMB (http://www.bridgeclimb.com). It is expensive, but WORTH EVERY PENNY!! I tell all my friends to do it and they all come back thrilled.

Another good way to see Sydney is with these Hop on Hop off busses, the "city sightseeing bus" ( http://www.city-sightseeing.com, click on the australia tag) They show you all mayor sights and run at least every half hour and do a "city" tour and a "beach" tour.

There is no need to book a guided tour in sydney, unless you wnt to be taken to shops.

Sydney opera house has excellent guided tours. Follow the signs at the opera house. Be aware that there are a lot of steps to negotiate at the opera house
