New Ship Names...?

I was looking at a trademark website and I found something interesting.

They have trademarks for the Carnival Splash, Carnival Sunrise, and Carnival Sunshine. The Splash was filed on Sep 27, 2011 and the Sunrise and Sunshine were filed on Jan 27, 2012.

Under the Goods and Services section this is what it says.

Goods and Services:

039. Cruise ship services

041. Entertainment services, namely, casino services, organizing and conducting stage shows, nightclub shows, contests, dances and parties, all provided onboard a cruise ship

043. Providing temporary accommodations onboard a cruise ship; restaurant and bar services provided onboard a cruise ship

I did a little more searching and this is what it says under all their ship names.

So it looks like the next two ship names may be Splash and Sunrise. Maybe if they redo the Triumph/Victory like they are doing to the Destiny those names will be their new names.

Here is the link if anyone wants to check it out.

When I heard they were introducing the Carnival Sunshine, my first response was that I'd be embarrassed to sail on it. What's next the Carnival Rainbow and Carnival Unicorn? Splash and Sunrise aren't much better. It's like a 6th grader is now naming the ships. LOL.

After the Destiny, the two next oldest ships that haven't received a major upgrade are the Elation and Paradise. So maybe they are next? I know they won't receive EOF, but maybe they will get a makeover similar to the Destiny.

I think NCL wins for the most crazy ship name. They have the Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway

My understanding is that Carnival Destiny was going to be named Carnival Splash until the Costa Concordia disaster.

That would make since because the Carnival Splash name was filed back in September and Sunrise and Sunshine were filed after the Concordia disaster.

Really? Sounds like a 8 year old named it! They could have thought of something better, IMO.

Maybe the kids took over during the 'Take Your Kid to Work' day?:p
