Probably a stupid question about rating and comps

I apologize if this has been asked before but what do you have to do to get free credits and drinks in the casinos on Carnival? I've read alot about it on these boards. Also, what does it mean to be rated and how do you get rated? Does it have benefits?

Thanks!

I had a simular question. I know you earn points when you use your sign and sail card in the casino. However, I was turned off by this b/c you have to pay a fee everytime you used it at the tables. I would think by the time I earned enough points for a free drink, I would have well paid for the drink in fees. Looking for a way around that by using cash. Someone mentioned that they don't charge the fee in the slots, so I was wondering if you added the money to the account and then cashed out, but if you are cashing out, does it just track winning and losses? Hopefully someone can enlighten us as to how many points you need to start getting rewards and how much $$ it relates to. Might be worth paying the fee!

You can rack up points on slots....it just takes alot to get anything of value back! For table games, you need to be playing about $25 per hand for about 4 hours a day for them to "rate" you. If you don't normally spend that much gambling, then don't worry about being "rated"...you shouldn't spend more than you're comfortable spending, just to get a drink or two! In order to get a cruise comped, you'll be gambling A LOT of money!!!

First to clarify a few things...on Carnival there is NO FEE to show your card at the tables to be rated. The only time you pay a fee is if you draw money off of your S&S card to play with. Its like 3% but I think I heard somewhere that this is going away. This is the ONLY time you pay any kind of fee.

For the "Drinks on Us" card, you have to accumulate 1500 points playing slots with your S&S card in the machine. There is no fee for this as far as I know. Once you get 1500 points, just see the Casino attendant and they will get you the drinks card.

For Table play, its a little different. You don't accumulate points but you can get the card based on the Pit Boss rating your play. If you play long enough enough they will usually comp you the drinks card if you ask them. But to be rated, you must play at least $25 per hand.

And just to clear things up a little further: Being "rated" simply means that the casino (any casino, land or sea) has tracked your play, and evaluated your play based on the length of time you spend gambling, and the amount of money you put at risk.

All casinos have a player tracking system, usually tied to a "frequent gambler" rewards program. The more time and money you spend in the casino, the greater your rewards: "Free" rooms (or cabins on ships), "free" drinks, "free" dinners and spas and shows, etc. etc. Of course you know why I put the "free" in quotes...if you stopped for one second to think of what you're actually paying (at the tables or slots) to get those "free" rewards, you'd never do it. BUT, if you're going to gamble anyway, then you might as well get something in return for your time and money, and some of the player rewards programs are quite generous, particularly when you reach the upper tier of players.
