Is it...?

Is it still called a B2B if we get on another ship the same day our first cruise ports?

My wife and I are sailing on the Liberty, disembark on the 13th of October, then jump on the Valor the same day.

Is this still a back to back? Just curious

Nope, but some who want it to be so still insist on calling them that..

You will not get the B2B gift and will not get the benefits of a B2B like sitting up on lido deck while its almost empty, just workers walking around and a few pax at most.

I got a fruit basket and champagne on one B2B and chocolate covered stawberries on my shorter B2B.

You cant buy liquor the last night and take it to your cabin to have the next leg.

You will not be walked thru customs, and have to debark and embark as usual on both cruises if its not really a B2B.

You will not have the fun of the staff recognizing you on the 2nd leg, and saying, hey didnt I just see you .. yep .. that is kinda fun.

You cant stay in the same cabin and not have to pack up unless its really a B2B.

Call it a almost B2B if you must, with none of the benefits except you only have to fly to the port once.

If it matters, you can call it whatever you want, but a traditional B2B is done on the same ship. so technically you are doing two separate cruisees, but in my book it is a B2B.

I would not want to go on the same ship with same entertainment for second week so this is how we would do it.

I had someone trying to talk me into doing this.. but Im a chicken, conquest and magic this year....I also thought trying to do conquest first with a big party with my TA might diminish my Magic cruise which I am so looking forward to.

Its also during Sept .. and I have had my share of hurricane mishaps in Sept. I chickened out.

I did do it once, with one day in between and call that my "almost B2B".

Thanks for all of the responses! Much appreciated.

We wife and I aren't interested in sailing the same ship with the same shows, etc. as mentioned above on b2b. Not knocking it mind you...just looking for a little flavor.

I had no idea of some of the fringe benefits of a "true" b2b. Good information.

7 days on the Liberty followed by 8 on the Valor. We are so ready to leave right now!

Thanks again

Jeff

Hi Fire, Thanks for the great response. My question is, Do I need to tell Carnival or anyone on board that I'm doing a B2B or will they know?

I did the same ship....the Miracle...two 8-day cruises on 4/12 and 4/20...in the same cabin (7214)...and they had the same entertainment on each cruise, but it really didn't matter one bit to me. :p.

The first cruise was with family, & we saw all the shows...the second cruise was with friends and we just did the casino at night.

It was simply perfect. :D.

i agree! i would want a whole new ship to experience.. a friend went on Explorer of the seas 2 years in a row and even THEN said she hated the fact all the entertainment was the same as the previous year

We assumed this was the standard procedure.

On our last true B2B we were escorted off the Splendor to the VIP room where we got our new cards. The escorted to the new VIP line where we had to wait with that week's VIP's.

I was disappointed we didn't get to watch the new cruisers board.

They knew.. the only one who really needs to know if you need to change cabins is your cabin steward. So far I have not had good luck getting any help to move to change cabins. .. and I asked the cabin steward, 3 times. So when it came time .. the other cabin was clear of the former folks and someone had booked my cabin (it was a special L shaped cabin and someone was quicker than me.. a friend). .. so I needed to get out. Cabin steward not only didnt help, but couldnt spare a cart he told me.

Luckily I pack light.

They give you a letter telling you where to meet to do the walk thru customs.

Both times we meet around 10 am, in the atrium. So have a leisurly breakfast first. One time, on Conquest.. they issued our cards for the next leg before the customs.. from the pursers desk, for those of us who got there on time, the late folks didnt get their new cards then, they had to wait.

The other we got our new cards in the port building ..after they walked us thru customs. Since you have no luggage .. it feels kinda stupid for someone to walk you thru customs and turn in the form. You just hand it to them, they didnt check a thing.

We have done this a couple of times...and I have referred to it as a "weird B2B"....

not the traditional.

Sometimes we have gotten really lucky with traditional B2Bs where the schedule changes every week...so we did not go back to the same ports.

Very good response, Fire. I agree completely. We're doing our 2nd B2B next January.

Your B2B fruitbasket is waiting in the room when you start your 2nd week.

Yes, liquor you bought at a port & held for you till the end of the 1st cruise SHOULD be in your room the last night. Also they do allow you to take the booze that you bought on ship early evening of last day on cruise #1 back to your room.

Note - I said SHOULD. Someone mentioned on CC that they may be cracking down on B2B people getting to keep the booze purchased during leg #1.

You can call it that if you like! I called ours a B2B sorta! We went on Freedom and got off and went on Splendor. We did buy liquor on the first trip in port and sweet talked the shop onboard out of a Carnival box for it. We then told the Guest services desk onthe Freedom that we were doing another sailing on the Splendor. They emailed the Splendor and let them know and also security was notified due to the alcohol we bought in port. I fully expected to have the Splendor take the Alcohol from us and return it the last night. They did not....it sat in our cabin until we debarked the Splendor as it was a gift for our dog sitter.

You will be on the Valor with us! See you there!

We did a 'sorta' this past November -- Paradise out of Tampa on a 5 day, return on Saturday and then a 7 day on Legend leaving Sunday.

This coming November, will be on another 'sorta' -- a 5 day on Ecstasy out of PC, return on Saturday and then board the Dream same day.

For those who have done this, how do you get from Ecstasy to Dream easily? We will be parking at a 'Park and Ride' in Port Canaveral.

I like that term "sorta B2B". DH & I have agreed that as long as we are paying airfare to travel we should make the most of it.

Maybe someday we will actually do a true "B2B" by definition and get the "perks" but until then we have decided to jump ships and enjoy longer cruises and the variety that comes with each.

You may not get a B2B gift. I didn't. If you get one, you get it at the beginning of the second cruise.

You may get liquor bought in port on the first leg, or you may not. Best way to ensure you have it on the second leg is to go to store after 7 on the last night of the first cruise. This way you just walk right out of the store with it.
