mountainbreeze Posted July 7, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2012 I was watching an old CD that Carnival sent me several years ago, they mentioned the themes for each ship. I thought it was interesting. When I sailed on the Destiny last year, I had no idea what the theme was. legion3 Posted July 8, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2012 Love the Paradise. I am an ocean liner fan and to see all the former great liners get their due was really awesome. The blue ribbon library has several displays and artifacts from some of these great ships as well as models of several former blue ribbon winners. The coolest items were a rhine wine glass and a water glass from the north german lloyd express liners, the first four stacker liners, that crossed prior to World War 1! Really cool to see. mountainbreeze Posted July 8, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted July 8, 2012 The decorations make more sense if you know the theme. I can't wait to see the Victory
RavenclawMom Posted July 8, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 8, 2012 I loved the Impressionists theme on the Conquest. Each area was decorated with reproductions of paintings/sculptures from a particular artist. I found the Degas Lounge and the Toulouse-Lautrec lounge especially appealing. H82seaUgo Posted July 8, 2012 #7 Share Posted July 8, 2012 (edited) most of them make sense for the ship i was on. but the destiny really lacked everrything. it was the most sterile decored ship ii have ever sailed. biggest disapointment was the miracle, with all the fanfare, watching the ship built from afar through another website. it was just a jostled bunch that just didn't flow, from that ugly pepto bismol/ silver dining room, to a metropolis that has no presense of superman, and the frankenstein neck bolt lighting throughout the ship. FreezingInMichigan Posted July 8, 2012 #8 Share Posted July 8, 2012 On the Liberty, we stumbled across a short program on the ship channel telling about the design and decor in the major rooms. After watching it, we walked through the ship and noticed things we'd walked right by before. Wish they had this on all the ships with specific designs. I was watching an old CD that Carnival sent me several years ago, they mentioned the themes for each ship. I thought it was interesting. FreezingInMichigan Posted July 8, 2012 #9 Share Posted July 8, 2012 Of all our Carnival cruises, the Freedom decor left us scratching our heads the most. I kept thinking, "Mr. Brady's den??" Great thread! Very good information, but it doesn't explain/excuse the Freedom decor! I can look beyond the giant Tide and kitty litter boxes on the Fantasy, but Mr. Farcus was on some serious medication, or he needed some serious medication when he designed the Freedon! ronandannette Posted July 9, 2012 #11 Share Posted July 9, 2012 (edited) Perhaps I am incapable of non-linear thought, but wouldn't it all make better sense if the themes were more directly related to the vessel's name? I totally can't make a connection between the Destiny and "Monumental", let alone hook it up with anything I saw on that ship. Help me out here right-brainers! Aplmac Posted January 20, 2014 #13 Share Posted January 20, 2014 Great thread! Very good information, but it doesn't explain/excuse the Freedom decor! I can look beyond the giant Tide and kitty litter boxes on the Fantasy, but Mr. Farcus was on some serious medication, or he needed some serious medication when he designed the Freedon! Although from pictures I've seen of SPLENDOR's interiorwith fried egg things on the ceilings  :o - THAT may be the weirdest/worst/wackiest! I believe Farcus is no longer doing Carnival's interiors and that is a blessing, bcoz his stuff is past its Best by: date now! I hear the Dream class interiors are nicer. . LandlockedCruiser01 Posted January 20, 2014 #15 Share Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) How does "The Senses" description explain Sensation's theme? (well, besides having the same root in these two words) It's got features like purple columns in the main promenade, color-changing lights in the atrium, and bastardized Greek architecture in the Michaelengelo Lounge. Any ideas? Are those elements intended to be highly visual? (in which case, there wasn't anything highly auditory, tactile, etc., other than the usual cruise ship elements) Edited January 20, 2014 by LandlockedCruiser01

IPlayWithString Posted March 7, 2014 #17 Share Posted March 7, 2014 Outside the Rome lounge on the Triumph is a mosaic of Roman boys fishing. Naked. DS and I got a giggle out of passing by it because every time he would whisper, "MOOM! They're *nekkid*!"

tidecat Posted March 28, 2018 #19 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Anyone know the theme on Dream? The newer ships (including Sunshine, although it is technically not new) don’t really have themes.
ABQrobin Posted March 28, 2018 #20 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Breeze = The Beach - all palm trees, and cabanas, carpet is either blue or sand, walls all sand, photos in hallways all beach themes. Magic = reminds me of neon carnival lights, pinks and greens. I disagree about a couple of them though.... Freedom theme is definitely about historic Freedom fighters/cultures around the world. First time on it I was thinking "bad 60s LSD trip" but once I read something about it, I realized there actually is a theme. Each room as a theme centered around something historic. Not the same cohesive ship theme like other ships, but works if you know what is going on. Liberty - is like a Middle ages castle, all stone and vines, gardens, etc. Definitely a time period theme. Each area was decorated with reproductions of paintings/sculptures from a particular artist. I found the Degas Lounge and the Toulouse-Lautrec lounge especially appealing. Totally agree and still remember the dining room china reflecting the impressionist theme also. Wonder if we could buy a place setting which would make an awesome souvenir:confused::)? zippyjet Posted March 29, 2018 #22 Share Posted March 29, 2018 The Conquest at least the dining rooms look like bad French culture meets 70's porn/scary clown pictures. Weird inverted horseshoe arches sort of confining otherwise a fun cruise.
