Northshorecruisers Posted July 27, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2012 Well, we are 2 days till we sail and I just went in to purchase OBC to cover our deposit. Had to call HAL and she said she would send an email to the ship. Has anyone had this happen before and what are the chances that our money will make it to the ship before we check in? catl331 Posted July 27, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2012 I'd say the chances are good. Bring whatever proof of purchase you have, and check on embarkation day so that if there is a problem they have the whole cruise to get it fixed.
spacepotatoes Posted July 27, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 27, 2012 My understanding was that you could only buy the "indulgences" online up to 3 days prior? If you called HAL directly, though, then you'll likely be ok.
sail7seas Posted July 27, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 27, 2012 Bring whatever e-mail confirmation you may have. Good advice to check with Front Office early in your cruise in the event there is a confusion. Have a great cruise.
Northshorecruisers Posted July 27, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted July 27, 2012 Yes I called direct to HAL because I couldn't do it online. She said we may still have to give a credit card because it may take 48-72 hours for it to show. But, I see the money has already been taken out of our checking account. PathfinderEss Posted July 27, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 27, 2012 I think it will get there with no problems, because you went directly thru Hal, and I'm sure you recieved some paper work on the transaction. Just make sure you take your papers with you. Have a wonderful cruise.
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 27, 2012 #7 Share Posted July 27, 2012 I hope that the person you talked to did send you an e-mail confirmation. Also -- that a copy of that bank statement where it shows that HAL has taken the money out of your account. Have a great cruise.
LVSue Posted July 27, 2012 #8 Share Posted July 27, 2012 I think I'm missing something. I don't mean to pry, but why would one want to do this?
canadarocks Posted July 27, 2012 #9 Share Posted July 27, 2012 I think I'm missing something. I don't mean to pry, but why would one want to do this? Some people (myself included) like to have as much of a cruise as possible "paid off" before they sail. I find coming off a cruise depressing enough, without having a hefty credit card bill to worry about afterwards! ;)
sapper1 Posted July 27, 2012 #10 Share Posted July 27, 2012 I think I'm missing something. I don't mean to pry, but why would one want to do this? If one does not want to have a $60pp per day hold on their credit card then they have to make a cash deposit upon boarding or have OBC to cover the hold. Rare richwmn Posted July 27, 2012 #11 Share Posted July 27, 2012 I think I'm missing something. I don't mean to pry, but why would one want to do this? In my case I have driven to Ft Lauderdale for most of my cruises. The prepaid account ($60/day) covers my expenses with a refund of enough to pay for my drive home. Therefore, I get home with everything settled and no worries whatsoever. On my last cruise I spent 4 days in Canada after the cruise and the refund covered my spending money there. Again came home with no bills outstanding. Rich
LVSue Posted July 27, 2012 #12 Share Posted July 27, 2012 Now I get it. I guess I can't imagine actually spending $60/day, so I'd rather have the hold on CC.
