DaisyandSika Posted August 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2012 I am looking at getting a sand/waterproof case for my Canon T3. I am new to the DSLR world and there is lots to learn! I plan to take my camera everywhere, but not in the water directly. I am just looking to keep it clean and protect it. Or maybe I am just a worrywart! CruznMooses Posted August 11, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2012 Good luck, you are looking that MAJOR bucks for a waterproof case for a DSLR...you are mutch better off with a waterproof case for a point and shoot.

To waterproof my Canon SLR would cost $1400 for a Ikelite case. I had a new Canon point and shoot that I purchased a Canon case for. It flooded on the first dive and Canon told me tough luck. I would recommend a Sealife DC1400. I use it for diving, wet or sandy conditions-never a problem. Since you are going to visit the Caribbean, why not try snorkeling or diving ? It's another world down there. You are not a worrywart. I take good care of my investments. Cozumel Reef. Click on photo for video. My avatar was taken on my old 5 mp Sealife in 2007. chipmaster Posted August 11, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2012 With care any DSLR can hit the beach or survive a little mist ( with rainsleeves ). For underwater you are best to buy one of the many waterproof P&S marketed by all the major manufactuires. I am looking at getting a sand/waterproof case for my Canon T3. Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted August 14, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Thank you for your kind words. But I'm not sure if I answered your question. What I use for SLR is called aLOKSAK. It's a heavy-duty baggie used by the Navy divers. It's certified waterproof to 200'. I would never try it for diving, but it works great for a rain or sand. 2 for $15 it's a bargain.
