Azure Moon Posted August 31, 2012 #76 Share Posted August 31, 2012 I don't think it's as bad as those creepy faces on Aida ships. I do fear, though, that the NCL- haters are going to have a field day when they see this. I fear this as well :(.
Swells1 Posted September 1, 2012 #77 Share Posted September 1, 2012 Maybe Peter Max owns a lot of Carnival stock?
Arzeena Posted September 1, 2012 #78 Share Posted September 1, 2012 Don't like! And not a Peter Max fan at all! He seems to be infatuated with Lady Liberty.
KarmaElectra Posted September 1, 2012 #79 Share Posted September 1, 2012 I like the current ships...colorful, but clear and simple. This design for the Breakaway is just downright ugly.
cruzcrazze Posted September 1, 2012 #80 Share Posted September 1, 2012 I kind of like it! Gives it lots of personality...it certainly will stand out from other ships in port. Just my 2 cents worth.
Medtech2 Posted September 1, 2012 #81 Share Posted September 1, 2012 The theme only makes sense as it is sailing out of New York. If they start moving it around the world, the connection will be lost. I can't see this going over well on a European itinerary...
McDebbie Posted September 1, 2012 #82 Share Posted September 1, 2012 I kinda like it!:)I just wonder if the other side of the ship might have subways, buses, or the Empire state building?:D Yeah, I want to see the other side too. Not sure about that big red blob, is that supposed to be the sun? I keep thinking this is the dawning of the age of Aquarius.... Oh That's what they should have named it - Aquarius! I hate hate hate the name much more than the hull art. I actually met Peter Max about 30 years ago in Guam. 2 Navy wives we worked in a furniture/electronics store and he came in to buy something electronic. (remember this was back @ 1980 so it sure wasn't an iPhone) my friend recognized him right away and he drew a picture of her on a piece of paper that was sitting there. Took him about 3 minutes and it was really good - life like. Of course by the time I got down there he was leaving... I've lost touch with her but I'm sure she still cherishes that drawing. xenagurl Posted September 1, 2012 #83 Share Posted September 1, 2012 Maybe this is just a PR stunt. I'm going to go with that until Norwegian releases the official Breakaway. :) If it's still there in May...hey whatever, as long as she's sea worthy (goes without saying) she'll be okay by me. kerrytens Posted September 1, 2012 #84 Share Posted September 1, 2012 OK, I simply skimmed over the first page of comments but I will say that I am going to start repeating DGP1111's mantra too. It is all about the inside .... Fingers crossed that this is some sort of PR stunt.

I can't see it being a PR stunt, it was a News 1 segment in NYC today.
Sauer-kraut Posted September 1, 2012 #86 Share Posted September 1, 2012 I also think the floating head looks completely ridiculous. Removing the floating liberty head should be the first step... Looks totally ridiculous. ...and it's a floating head, for crying out loud! I agree with the poster who said maybe if the Statue of Liberty head wasn't there. Well, think of Liberty's image as a ship's figurehead.
time2cruise1 Posted September 1, 2012 #87 Share Posted September 1, 2012 I can't see it being a PR stunt, it was a News 1 segment in NYC today. I can say NCL was not happy this picture was out there. They did remove it from their Facebook page when it was posted there. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - Jim

capp Posted September 1, 2012 #92 Share Posted September 1, 2012 I can say NCL was not happy this picture was out there. They did remove it from their Facebook page when it was posted there. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - Jim I was wondering why there wasn't an NCL press release. They've been doing such a wonderful job releasing info - in a well thought out plan - on this gorgeous (on the inside) ship. It's just peculiar that there has been nothing from NCL and makes me think (hope) it's just a first draft!

jame_g Posted September 1, 2012 #94 Share Posted September 1, 2012 No worries. We'll just let the NYC graffiti artists paint over it while in port. It will look much better and be authentic NYC. :D
VegasChic Posted September 1, 2012 #95 Share Posted September 1, 2012 I'm not one to be negative but I really don't care for the design it's not modern or elegant I really don't know what to think of it. Oh well at the end of the day I could care less, it won't stop me from sailing the breakaway.
