"Live" (I hope) from Radiance - Sailing to Hawaii

I know tapatalk says there is a limit to the amount of pictures they will host - unless they've changed that - they used to say you had to pay to host more than 10 pictures. I haven't lost any pictures I've uploaded through them yet but maybe I haven't met my limit.

Have you paid the small fee for unlimited tapatalk hosted pictures?

I'm looking forward to your live updates. The ship's wifi is supposed to be faster now because they replaced all the satellites on the top of the ship a couple of weeks ago. With the upgrades and the faster tapatalk app, maybe you won't use up too much internet time.

Do you have any free wifi coupons from a crown and anchor booklet?

Be sure to post some pictures of people who work on board. It's fun to spot people we might know. Also, get in some of the pictures yourself, so your wife won't look like a single woman. :)

Gina

I don't recall paying any fee so I may run out of those pictures soon. :(

My Venice cruise I took so few ship pictures it was embarrassing. :o

Oops, that submit button is in a lousy spot, just hit it again. Let me finish my last post by saying I will take a lot more shipboard pictures this time. Can't help it with five days at sea.

Ooooh! I love our balcony!:D

It looks so funny to see your cute wife in a sweatshirt since it is 91 degrees here and I know you are heading to Hawaii! I guess I will have to keep Vancouver temps in mind when I pack for our cruise.

It is chilly here, especially on the water

I love your Tapatalk pictures! Can you post those from the ship without huge charges?

When do we board the ship? ;)

I did this on our Mexican Riviera cruise a couple years ago. I switch my phone to Verizon's global data plan which makes it cheaper. Will also use it to tether my netbook later.

I wonder if the picture limit is just scare tactics. :) Or maybe you will get a message that you have reached your limit. Or maybe the first picture gets bumped off by the most recent upload. We'll find out.

Keep the pics and review coming.

Ok, this is what I am going to call "netbook time". That is the time I am off the phone and back on the computer. Well, sort of off the phone, The netbook is actually tethered to the phone but it gives me a chance to write more and post multiple pictures in a posting. :) I will try to get to "netbook time" once or twice a day. Twice at sea for sure.

So far the day had been long but fun. We are currently ensconed in our cabin and relaxing before the muster drill. Marie even managed a power nap, good for her. I sleep for an hour and I feel worse than when I started.

Summing up, we left Seattle at 6:30am on our charter bus to Canada Place pier. The ride was uneventful, Marie won then lost about $10,000 play the slot machine on my Kindle Fire until she ran the battery out. That of course was my reading material for the drive (I am well into the first book of Game of Thrones) so it left me to gaze out the window and snap a few pictures.

I didn't realize what a pain it is to take a bus over the border. When we arrive at the building the driver headed inside and was gone about 15 minutes. I thought he was inside having coffee and chatting with his buds. When he got back he had us get off the bus taking everything with us into the building including our big suitcases. We then wait in line where a border guard scans the passports and sends us on our merry way. We then get back on the bus and head across the border. Someone please explain that one to me.

After making one stop at the Red Rock Casino/Resort to drop off one couple we headed to the very crowded Canada Place. I say very crowded as there are three ships in port today, Radiance, Rhapsody and some Celebrity ship. The pier is really built for two so it was crowded, but we are about to board so who cares. :D

It was after 1pm when we finally got on board so we made a quick stop in the cabin before heading out to eat. I had told Marie we had an aft balcony but I didn't tell her it was a JS, 1602. A couple months ago through the use of some massive discounts (senior and military) I managed to move us from and inside first to a D1 then a JS for about $350 more per person. Sitting here looking out that balcony I can say it was well worth it.

Don't worry, I will take some cabin pictures soon.

One last post before muster drill.

After checking out the cabin we headed up a deck to Windjammer. First let me say in the little time I have been on this ship it is quickly becoming my favorite. I wanted to just ride up and down in the elevators with all that glass. The centrum area is beautiful and even Windjammer has a quiet elegance to it (usually I just notice the food ).

We found there to be plenty of open tables, no playing of musical chair to get a seat. Food was on par with windjammer so I will not complain. Even tried Honey Stung Chicken again and actually liked it. Tasted like cardboard last time it tried it.

Enjoy your cruise. Lisa and I did this cruise quite a few years ago, and it was our first RCI cruise. We too were on the Radiance as well. Enjoy your brief time in Canada. I look forward to your review of the cruise.

Smooth waters and calm seas to you.

Andrew

I love the Radiance....****deep sigh***** I had a choice between the Radiance and the Rhapsody when we booked our May '14 cruise. The dates of the Rhapsody cruise worked better for us (a few days later allowing us extra time in Honolulu pre-cruise) and an extra day in Maui helped us make the decision. But the Radiance is beautiful and the aft cabins are wonderful! You made a good choice to upgrade like you did. I am sure I will love the Rhapsody, too. Thanks for the picture!

We were on Splendour back in May which is the same class as Rhapsody. We really enjoyed our time on her.
