Pettifogger Posted October 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2012 My physical therapist likes me to do exercises with ankle weights. Obviously those are something I'd rather not carry in my airline baggage. Has anyone ever either found them in the exercise room onboard or looked for them and not found them? Krazy Kruizers Posted October 1, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2012 My DH uses the gyms on all the ships. And many of the machines and weights. I asked him -- he has never seen ankle weights on any ship.
iflyrc5 Posted October 1, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2012 We use the gym on all the cruises and have not seen ankle weights.:( They do have some OK quality machines and a good assortment of free weights. They may have them but they are not sitting out and have never asked.

Rare TiogaCruiser Posted October 1, 2012 #6 Share Posted October 1, 2012 Would it be possible for his PT to show him the equivalent exercises using tubing or a latex band? They come in various thicknesses/ resistances and weigh only a few ounces.
KirkNC Posted October 2, 2012 #7 Share Posted October 2, 2012 wear them on the plane - take them off for security screening, of course. That would be a sight!
jcrandle Posted October 2, 2012 #8 Share Posted October 2, 2012 Get 4 one liter bottles of booze at duty free, and duct tape them to your ankles. Could solve two problems at one time, and as the booze evaporates you could replace it with water!:D

Pettifogger Posted October 2, 2012 Author #10 Share Posted October 2, 2012 Thank you all. If the ankle wraps which hold the weights are pretty much standard in size, perhaps cruise lines could provide just the weights, which are the baggage problem and cost very little, and let the passengers bring their own ankle wraps to hold them, which might be considered a personal item. In any event, I suppose most of us can get along without them for the length of most cruises.
