Classy Welcome to Honolulu

CRUZBUDS

Recommended Posts

We arrived in Honolulu this morning on the Century for our first port of call after five wonderful sea days. There were two lines of about about half a dozen officers each on either side of the gangway as we entered the terminal. They were lined up to wish everyone a great day in Hawaii. The cruise director and hotel manager were among them. It was very nice.

It really made us feel special! :)

We've never experienced anything like it....is it a new Celebrity custom? The officers on this ship have been the most outgoing and engaging of any ship we've been on.

Boy, are we having fun. :D

It is very nice and it does make one feel special! I've routinely seen it on Azamara--including a "farewell and thank you" by Officers upon disembarkation--but I've never seen it on Celebrity...

It is, to my mind, a best practice--a very personal touch--and one I'd like to see adopted across the Royal Caribbean family...

Thanks for reporting your experience... Enjoy the rest of your cruise!

We will be there on Nov 25, can't wait...

Question for you, how was the crossing weather wise?

Thanks,

Mary

That's what makes Celebrity Celebrity. Little touches--like ice-cold water and ice-cold towels in the heat of summer in Istanbul and Santorini---....That's why I'm hooked.

This was our 6th R/T Hawaii and the seas were the smoothest we've ever had. It was warm and sunny by the third day.

Aloha!

We've had a similar enjoyable experience on CENTURY ( or '' off'' ) In Keetchikan 06JUL...a huge line up, '' double-breasted'', of officers and seniors as guests got off for the Ketchikan visit. CD Sue Denning, in particular, stood out quite nicely,, all blonde amidst all those darker uniformed men and women collegues.

A very nice touch that guests appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Jim & Alison,

We depart on the Millie on the 22nd Oct heading to the Hawaiian Islands, curious as to the daily weather out of San Diego for your transit.

The weather was fair not cold, but little sun, the first couple of days. The seas were uncommonly smooth (in our experience). The sun was out by day three. On the last sea day we had a pretty good pitch with 15 foot swells. This was the smoothest crossing we've had yet.

Aloha!

We have done RT Hawaii with X twice in Oct. and had smooth seas both times.

Our other five times were rough to very rough the first day out of San Diego. Three times on X, once on HAL and once on Royal Caribbean.

If you're prone to motion problems, be prepared. You never know! :)

Aloha!

Century had the friendliest officers we have ever encountered, they would always stops to say hello and always made us feel very special! Enjoy your cruise!

We have seen the senior officers more often than we ever had on other ships. The Captain has walked through the Elite Breakfast every morning we've been and greeted and chatted with passengers.

This is all great news.

I think that it is new though, I have never seen the Capt. at the Elite brekfast or on the gang plank going ashore for that matter.

We have been on other lines where it is done but never seen it on X.

As I say, great news :D
