Elite on Princess but would like to try Celebrity.

What do you think about Celebrity Summit

Thanks for any info.

Never been on Princess, just off Summit last month. Beautiful ship just had major workover earlier this years. Any specific questions ask away.

I've cruised Princess 3 times, Celebrity 13 times and Summit twice. I enjoyed both Lines.

For me, I find Celebrity a more enjoyable experience. I found the M-Class Celebrity which Summit is one to be less crowded than the three Princess ships and the common area were better set up. No bottlenecks and more seating and areas on Celebrity to relax.

I found the overall dining to be close in quality but thougt the Summit buffet had more options.

The Princess standard SRs on 2 ships didn't have areas to entertain or have guests, no couches as Summit did in standard SRs, so had to upgrade to a mini-suite. Also, the Princess shower was much smaller.

I enjoyed the Princess big shows a bit more, but the theater on all 3 ships weren't nearly large enough to accommodate the number of guests and you had to get there way too early for me for a popular show. Summit has a very spacious theater that handles 1/2 the passengers fine.

Service on both Lines was excellent. Princess has a coffee card and the International Cafe which I thought was tops. But my experience was Princess was more hardsell than Celebrity. Celebrity has one announcement per day, mainly the Capt at noon. I was asked pretty much evertime I ordered a wine if I wanted a ticket to a wine-tasting on Princess.

Again, enjoyed both Lines. I think if you enjoyed Princess you'll at a minimum enjoy Summit.

One biggie - Summit has what I think is the best pool afloat. The indoor T-Spa pool is adult only, free and has very warm water with lots if action such as a jacuuzi and has steel pipes on the side to lay on w bubbles coming up through them. Unbelievable. We get a SR up forward just below it so we can zip up every morning and use it. Standard on M- Class.

Enjoy your cruise and hope you give Summit a try.

You didn't say where you planned to cruise or which Princess ships you've been on and are comparing the Summit to.

We too are Elite on both lines and love them.

The Summit is the ship we've cruised on the most, but Grand Class ships total about ten cruises total over the Millennium class ships at seven.

I personally prefer larger ships with more venues and such and have to give a slight edge to Grand Class over Millennium... (ducking for the smaller is better crowds' words....) I found neither more nor less crowded. I love the clean air in the casino Celebrity brings... (Princess are you still in the 1950s?)

Dining on each line is very good, but on our last Princess cruise, the Caribbean Princess out of San Juan, the sea food was better (actually great) on Princess.

I can guarantee you will love the Summit.

We sail both Celebrity and Princess regularly and don't feel that one is better than the other, although there are some differences. We love the Princess mini suites at a reasonable price, Celebrity's Sky Suite on Summit is comparable but there are only a few, and the price is higher. I think you'll find Celebrity to be a little more sedate, which may or may not be a plus. Food in the MDRs has been comparable for us on both lines. Summit does have a better buffet, but their evening buffet is limited with no theme nights like you have on Princess. Entertainment seems more extensive and better on Princess, we don't find too much going on late evenings on Celebrity unless we're in the casino. Summit is smaller than the Grand Class ships, was recently renovated and has a warm, stately feel. I do agree that if you like Princess, you'll like Celebrity too, so I'd give it a try.

We have sailed both and the only difference that I noticed is the buffet on the Summit is lacking on choices. The buffet on Princess I don't care for the different stations for food, to hard to carry a tray around to all the different area's.

We've sailed Princess 4 times and Celebrity twice. We were on the Summit this past June to Bermuda (with Princess doesn't do) and loved it! We really like the no smoking in the casino and the indoor(T) pool. We also really enjoy the Princess ships too! For us it depends on where we want to go. Next year we're sailing on Princess because we want the 15 day Panama Canal in February. Have fun planning!:)

Princess is our favorite cruiseline. If they have an itinerary we want, we book. I seldom check the Princess boards because I have no concerns to investigate. We like the meal plans, International Cafe, the promenade, Piazza, cabins (big closets, tiny showers), spa, Solarium Pool, crew, numerous lounges, Specialty Restaurants and lots more.

Celebrity is our second favorite cruiseline. We book Celebrity when the itinerary trumps Princess. We're planning a spring cruise on Eclipse and will avoid the noise in the Grand Foyer area.

We have no problems with Celebrity's M-Class ships (Summit), but the S-Class has design flaws and IMHO limited entertainment venues for the evening.

The Princess Theater seats fill fast but there are plenty of places to go for entertainment and relaxing in the evening: Wheelhouse Bar (dancing), Crooners (piano), Explorer's Lounge (bands, songs, dancing), Skywalker for late night disco, daytime entertainment in the Piazza, plus, entertainment in Adiago and Steakhouse bar area.

Princess favorites are Coral, Emerald and Grand Class (Star)

So far 100+ days on Celebrity, more on Princess.

Hi All,

Thanks for the information.

We decided to try the Summit this February when it is in the Caribbean. It will be our first trip on Celebrity.

Just returned from a New England cruise on the Caribbean Princess. My husband and I enjoyed the itinerary. The crew was friendly and the service was very good. It was our 24th cruise on Princess.
