Okay we have been on alot of cruises and spent alot of time in the casino's. We have never been offered anything. I don't know if it is because I haven't contacted anyone or if we haven't spent enough $$$

Can someone give me an aprox. of when some of the comps would start to be offered.

Based on what I have observed on these boards, NCL seems to be the most generous. However, I would guess that even for them, you probably need to be in the $2-3K range before anyone from casino "starts" to take notice. If it is any less than that, I may need to switch to NCL...LOL

It's not what you win or lose or necessarily put into play - its what you wager at a time or how much you wager cumulatively (that is counted). you should use your card for any slots, or if your table play is at rated levels. Then you can contact them for whether you are eligible for any casino comps.

You could say you lose 3K for 10 cruises, but if you're playing $10/hand in blackjack, play badly, and lose $500 a night in 30 minutes- then they aren't necessarily going to notice you or give you anything.

And just remember...those "free" things you're getting aren't really free....you're paying for them by gambling! So don't start gambling more than your comfort zone just to get a free drink....it's cheaper to pay the $6 for a drink, than to gamble $1500 more than you normally would!!!

Most Carnival cruisers know about the 1,500 points to get free drinks. But I learned last week on the Magic that if you hit 5,000 points, you get free drinks in the casino for the entire duration of your next cruise. Maybe everyone knew that but me, but WOW! I was surprised to get free drinks from the very first day - and I earned enough to get the same benefit on my April cruise on the Magic!

I used to work for Harrah's AC and am very familiar with the NCL Casinos At Sea program as they use the Total Rewards concept and are affiliated.

Your comps and points are based on average bet x time played on tables, and a set amount per coin on slot machines.

My average bet on cruise ships usually range between $25-$50 however I only play for 2-3 hours a sea day max. I generally earn 300 points on my last 2 NCL cruises did not equate to much. On Princess (Ocean Players Club) using the same average bet I earned $100 on board casino credit for next cruise.

Do not aim to get comps unless you are willing to wager your next cruise. Play to have a good time and run like the wind if you win!

In actuality, to be rated at table play, at least on Carnival, you need to play a minimum bet of $25 and play for four hours a day. It has nothing to do with how much you lose, but rather what you risk.

On my last cruise in November, I received a Drinks on Us card the second day of the cruise, and my wife received one on the third day. The wife was playing $5 roulette, so I am not sure how she was able to get the card, but it sure saved us a bundle of $$.

That is 100% correct, comps have nothing to do with how much you lose or how much you win. The way you are rated is entirely based on your average bet. There is no minimum to be rated, just make sure you request they rate you every time if they do not rate you. A player playing $10 average bet for 8 hours a day vs a player playing $25 average bet will net the casino more money and the player more comps.

Almost (not all) casinos who have a rating system work with an average bet system on table games and a coin in system on slot machines. I will go over a little bit of both for people who are unaware of the system. This system I have experienced in person in Harrahs, Caesars, Ballys, Borgata, Revel and NCL (which follows the same rating system as Total Rewards as they are affiliated, but not the same)

Table Games - Average Bet: Depending on the type of game you are playing, the calculation may be different. The reason most casinos use Average Bet is because every table game has a house edge and the odds for the player to win.

Average bet is calculated based on your average bet recorded periodically by the floor person (supervisor). Example: you bet $10 every hand in blackjack, each shoe in blackjack should last no more than 15 minutes, each shoe generally has 40-50 hands. Within 15 minutes, if you only place $10 every hand you should have put up $400-$500. Blackjack has a 40% odds for the player, 60% odds for the house. If we follow simple math, every shoe you are expected to lose $40-$50 (sometimes more sometimes less based on your luck). Now the casino knows this is how much they can make from you within an hour they will set their system (based on their rewards program) to how much comps or points you will earn. In Harrahs, an average bet of $10 will get you 3 comp dollars every hour. In Borgata an average bet of $10 will earn you 2 comp dollar every hour. This is why it is important to always be rated especially if you "raise" your bet as it will raise your Average bet.

Slot Machines - Coin In: Most casinos utilize a coin in feature to give you comps. Total Rewards (Caesars Entertainment) uses a every $5 coin in you earn 1 base reward credit. Every 10 base reward credits you earn 1 comp dollar. Which means you will need to coin in $50 to get 1 comp dollar (if you are a video poker player double the amount of coin in to earn 1 base reward credit). Remember that a coin in is each spin, if you win $1000 after 2 spins with a $3 per spin, you will only get 1 point and change. Slot players are generally rewarded much higher than table games because they generate the most revenue.

Basically its not worth it if you are gambling to earn comps. Play for fun and expect to lose what you go in with, however remember if you win its always a plus and can pay for your next cruise! If you really just want go to a casino and gamble to earn more comps, I recommend you call 800-426-2537 they can provide you with some more information.

On my last cruise I hit a 25k jackpot on a slot machine. I played pretty heavily exclusively slots (alternating between 3 dollar a spin and 15 dollars a spin machines), spending about 4 hours or so a day playing.

Since coming back I have since been offered 375 dollars "casino cash" comp if we rebook with Princess on specific casino cruises.

Question is this - I'd rather have the room comped instead. At this level of play am i in the "zone" for comped accommodations? Wife and I haven't decided if we will book Princess or Carnival. Does that make a difference since they are both part of Oceans Players Club?

Having cruised with Princess 6 x and virtually lived in their casinos averaging $1000 plus in slot play a day, and my last cruise on the Ruby I was informed that I was the top slot point getter on that cruise I have never been offered a comped cabin from them. Princess has offered me various amounts of free play $$ if I book specific casino cruises which I did not partake of because either the ship or itinerary was of no interest to me. Unless things have changed with Princess since I last cruised that line, I have yet to hear anyone getting a cruise cabin comp from them. Seems like NCL tops the lines for giving out comped cabins. I have taken one NCL cruise last March which was a comped cabin from Foxwoods Casino, and since that cruise I have received 4-6 minisuite cabin comp offers from NCL/CAS and two I have booked the first being on the Pearl leaving in a little over two weeks and the brandy new Breakaway in June.

I decided to call and see what they could do. I tried ocean club first ... They stated that princess had nothing for me, however, I might be able to get a discount rate on carnival. I was then referred to a carnival travel rep. Upon calling them I was offered 25 percent off lowest priced room I can find, 100 cage cash, and the drink 4 free card.

Wife and I considering this as it seems like a great deal.
