Diverse Group- recommendations near pier?

My family is docking on the Summit on 11/20 in St. Lucia. We have a 16 yr old, several adults and two seniors that require wheelchair/scooters. Is there any hotel or restaruant near the cruise pier(within 1/2 hour drive) that would allow a 16 yr old (many day passes are adults only) that would also be of interest to the seniors in our group? I thought of Rodney Bay area because a few in our group enjoy casinos, but what else is there in that area to accommodate those who don't want to gamble but want to enjoy the beauty of St. Lucia?

I checked out Ti Kaye - but it doesn't look wheelchair friendly?

Any recommendations/thoughts appreciated! The majority of our group are not interested in a long tour- just a nice place to eat lunch and/or beach or hotel with 1/2 day pass option that would allow 16 yr old.

Thanks in advance,

Yes, Rodney Bay has a casino - but it is not usually open till either about 12pm or 2 in the afternoon - so not a huge draw during the day. Rodney Bay does have a great long stretch of beach with chairs/umbrellas for rent, watersports of all kind for hire, great stretch of swimming beach, lots of shops and loads of restaurants and bars to choose from. Could be a good choice overall. It's about 20-30 minutes from the port and taxi will be $30US for up to 3 people, with additional people extra.

Another option may be Pigeon Island - a little further on from RB. About 35 minutes from port, at $35US one way. It is a national park area, $5USpp to enter. There is some hiking (2 hills for great views points) some snorkeling, small beach for swimming, chairs for rent, small museum detailing maritime history and pirates that visited the area, 2 great restaurants, kayaks, etc. May be a good option.

Most everything else involves at least a half day tour and a fair amount of time in a van. Good luck!

Hi Andrea. After reading your post over on the Silversea forum, we decided on their Thanksgiving cruise. What led your family to enjoy the Summit instead of the Whisper?

Thanks and have a great time!

Stumblefoot,

Sorry for the late reply...and sorry to post on St. Lucia board but don't know where else to reply.

It was a hard decision but among other things we felt that our 16 year old daughter and 24 year old son would enjoy the Summit more and we could all get nicer suites on this sailing due difference in pricing. We had a wonderful cruise and I hope you and your family did as well on Silversea. Let me know how you liked it- I will be anxious to hear as we may consider Silversea for a future cruise.

Warm Regards, Andrea
