newbie3815 Posted November 8, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2012 Last stop on our Carnival Dec cruise. Is there anything to do within walking distance from the ship? Inexpensive or free would be great. Not into scuba or diving , but do enjoy beaches.
marylp Posted November 8, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2012 Take the public transportation (about 2.50) and just see the island.
blue_water Posted November 8, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 8, 2012 You have shopping in town at the cruise dock, you can take a walking tour up from the waterfront and see the monuments near the courthouse. We enjoy having a lunch at the Paradise restaurant right at the end of town, great spot to people watch and sit by the water. The bus runs along West Bay and you can ride that as suggested earlier, Coconut Joe's is a fun bar a short ride north from town with drink and food specials. And Smith Bay just south of town is a small public beach and a great spot to lime for the day.
cb at sea Posted November 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 9, 2012 The beach is free and public...a cheap bus will get you there! If you're good with just lying on your ship-supplied beach towel, you don't even need to rent loungers! Food (and everything!) is expensive on GC...so eat a hearty breakfast, if you don't want to spend $$ on food!
Capt_BJ Posted November 9, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2012 a short taxi ride can take you to My Bar and you may be able to watch the dominos games This IS worth the price of admission. Don't try to buy in unless you brought a huge wad . . . and a great place to watch for the Green Flash
