SeaOfTranquility Posted December 10, 2012 #29 Share Posted December 10, 2012 PS: Does anyone know what a code alpha tango means? (I think it might be medical) It is my understanding that an alpha code designates a medical emergency and that an alpha tango code designates a medical emergency involving some sort of trauma. Kiwi Kruzer Posted December 10, 2012 Author #30 Share Posted December 10, 2012 The codes announced on a cruise are unique to that ship or that cruise line. I have heard several. Regent uses colours and will call Code Yellow for example and give a location. I heard this once (cant remember the actual colour they called) and then saw a medical team rushing to the dining room with oxygen cylinders. The codes are many and varied.. a quick search of Cruise Critics board revealed the following snippets...some are quite amusing ..especially the Protein Spill for when someone has thrown up:D ------------------------------------------------ Alpha" is a medical emergency "Bravo" is a fire "Charlie" is a bomb threat "Omega" is man overboard ---------------------------------------------------- Oscar is man overboard. -------------------------------------------------- Other codes : Whiskey Whiskey Whiskey: The bar is open. Yankee Yankee Yankee: The New York Harbour Pilot is now aboard. Tango Foxtrot: Let's dance ---------------------------------------------------------- the NCL Jewel uses "Alpha" for a medical emergency. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Foxtrot= the ran out of food at the buffet watch out that is an emergency. ---------------------------------------------------- Operation Brightstar is a medical emergency. ------------------------------------------------------------ These are the codes used by NCL. Alpha = Medical Emergency Bravo = Fire Delta = Damage to the ship Papa = Some form of Pollution has occurred (Oil spill, etc) Oscar = Man Overboard They will always announce the code 3 times and the location. One way to see the crew in action is to watch the crew drill, normally held once a week. ------------------------------------------------------ I have heard "Mr So and So please come to the office immediately'. The immediately is the key word for a serious problem. The name of the person is part of the code. ---------------------------------------------------- Want to laugh? At Disney World when 'Proteen spill' with location is announced, it means someone has thrown up, crew, go clean it up! ----------------------------------------------------------------

Kiwi Kruzer Posted December 11, 2012 Author #32 Share Posted December 11, 2012 They are currently cruising down the East coast to Sydney.Just past Townsville. On this cruise , Diamond usually calls in at Brisbane , but they are sailing straight past this year. Must be in a hurry to get to Sydney... Looks like they are passing some islands... Kiwi Kruzer Posted December 12, 2012 Author #33 Share Posted December 12, 2012 From the live AIS map, looks like they are getting a daylight sail past of the Gold Coast. We did that once and got a great view of all the high rise. She may be a bit far ot to sea, but can anyone see her sailing down the coast ? Rare MMDown Under Posted December 12, 2012 #34 Share Posted December 12, 2012 I hope those on board can see the Coast, as I loved our daylight cruise along the Coast, past the Gold Coast, northern rivers and central coast. We could see the Gold Coast highrise buildings, and landmarks all along the Coast, such as the islands, Mount Warning, Byron Bay Lighthouse, Solitary Rock (?) off Coffs Harbour, etc. It was really beautiful cruising along the Coast, in the sunshine, with all the beaches and mountains in the background. I was wishing they had a more detailed navigational map on board, so we could follow our progress better, all the way along the Coast. Another highlight was travelling past Thursday Island and the Torres St Islands in daylight. Daylight cruising along the Coast should be a selling point, in addition to the Great Barrier Reef, especially to Australians.
