KirkNC Posted December 10, 2012 #7 Share Posted December 10, 2012 I agree, I have no interest in sailing on a ship that large.

Norwegian Cruiser 73 Posted December 11, 2012 #9 Share Posted December 11, 2012 The article says that the new Costa ship will be the biggest Italian cruise ship but MSC 's Fantasia Class is bigger in GRT. But they are registered in Panama, maybe that's why they are not the biggest Italian ship even if MSC is Italian.

AmoMondo Posted December 12, 2012 #11 Share Posted December 12, 2012 So much for all those who claimed Costa would go under after the Concordia accident! Yes indeed. Always thought they would survive...just as AF survived the Concorde crash.

Brian Raine Posted December 17, 2012 #13 Share Posted December 17, 2012 Carnival have got to get their money back from the Concordia insurance claims etc ,I believe they underwrot e the ships insurance in house. So they are building 3 biggies,I wonder what the deal is they have with Finncantari?, is the Italian government underwriting the costs to Finncantari.NCL went to Finland for a new ship but the government would not underwrite the shipyard. janneke Posted March 20, 2013 #15 Share Posted March 20, 2013 I think what he means is RCCL (royal caribbean cruise line) and NOT NCL, which is a different cruise line!!! And indeed, the Finnish government refused to financially back up the ship wharf that built both the Oasis ships in the past. The new ship will be build in France. One would think that after having built two ships, there would be a treasure of experience to build a third ship . But that's not the way decisions are made at the top levels of a company.
