We will be on Caribbean Princess for 7 nights in March & chose the any time dining. Can we reserve dining times on line prior to departure or must we reserve when on board? If we can only reserve on board, must it be done daily or can we reserve multiple days at one time?

Thanks!!

It can only be done on board.

The rules differ on the various ships. Some will allow a booking for the entire cruise, some for only the next day, some for the next three days, and some only on the day of.

Most will not allow a reservation during the most popular times of between 6 PM and 7:30 PM.

We were on the Island Nov. 2 with another couple. The 1st night we went to dinner at 7:30pm and loved our waiter and waitress right away. We called down the next morning to reserve that table again and were told yes. When we got down there the 2nd night we asked if we could have 1 of the 4 tables in their section every night for 7:30pm for the rest of the cruise. They marked us off and we were all set. Even though it was anytime, it really wasn't but that was where we wanted to sit so we were pleased that we were able to do this. You won't know unless you ask though.

A lot of time the rules are based on the projected flow too. For example, if on the first night the MD notices an early rush, they may be more inclined to allow standing reservations later in the evening. So if the initial answer is no, check back on the second full day when they have a better idea.

And some Maitre D's allow no reservations at all, as we discovered on a recent cruise.
