Lucy Jane Posted November 30, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2012 Apparently, maybe only rumor, HAL has been sold to Egyptian company called Inter-Cruises. Has anyone more info or have. Heard of this firm?

kitty9 Posted November 30, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 30, 2012 I just did a Google search and found absolutely nothing about HAL being sold. A bad rumor. Intercruises is a port agency company that helps all kinds of ships organize all their proper documents while in a port. They are not a cruise line company. Lucy Jane Posted November 30, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted November 30, 2012 I just did a Google search and found absolutely nothing about HAL being sold. A bad rumor. Intercruises is a port agency company that helps all kinds of ships organize all their proper documents while in a port. They are not a cruise line company. It must have been the shore side services that were sold and NOT HAL - the person who told me this evidently did not know the whole story. Sorry. Rumors are just that! Rumors! I could not find anything either -just shore side services were sold.

Lucy Jane Posted November 30, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted November 30, 2012 Sounds like a rumor. It was a RUMOR. It was shoreside services that was sold. They are the ones who meet and greet you at airport and hotels for HAL. The changes were not favorable for the employees. Hope they can get the wrinkles ironed out as they have done an excellent job in past.

c-legs Posted December 1, 2012 #12 Share Posted December 1, 2012 In 1989, HAL became a wholly owned subsidiary of Carnival Corp.In addition to its cruise line, Holland America operates the Westmark Hotel chain in Alaska and the Yukon. as well, it owns ''WorldWide Shore Services'' which is their shore services end of the operations, in quite a few ports . Perhaps this is what this ''rumor'' refers to... Cheers

bishop84 Posted December 2, 2012 #14 Share Posted December 2, 2012 as well, it owns ''WorldWide Shore Services'' which is their shore services end of the operations, in quite a few ports .Perhaps this is what this ''rumor'' refers to... Cheers Quite correct, they used to provide these services to HAL and other companies in a few North American ports. A company called Intercruises have taken over that role for HAL and seem to employ some of the people who used to work for WorldWide. Intercruises are a major port agency company and have offices all over the world.

DizzyDallasDi Posted December 2, 2012 #16 Share Posted December 2, 2012 If Carnival Corporation had sold HAL, it would have filed an 8-K with the SEC announcing the impending sale. All SEC filings are public and are posted on the EDGAR site found on http://sec.gov/ immediately upon receiving the filing. Next time you hear a rumor regarding something that would cause a substantial monetary change in a public corporation, the best way to confirm whether it's true or not is to look at the recent SEC filings. Globaliser Posted December 2, 2012 #19 Share Posted December 2, 2012 ... Egyptian company called Inter-Cruises. Has anyone more info or have. Heard of this firm? A Mideast company in charge of handling luggage. What would be wrong with a Middle Eastern company doing this? How would it be different from all of the other things that Middle Eastern companies do for us every day? Anyway, has anyone actually found out anything about the company involved? Is it this one? "Intercruises Shoreside & Port Services is an experienced global business offering first class ground handling and port agency services to the Ocean and river cruise industry."Because if it is, it's a Barcelona-based subsidiary of TUI Travel plc, which is broadly speaking a British-German international leisure travel company listed on the London Stock Exchange. There doesn't seem to be anything "Egyptian" or "Middle Eastern" about it.
