capriccio Posted August 31, 2013 #76 Share Posted August 31, 2013 As DCT61 posted, the noise issue can change from cruise to cruise. We also had some stabilizer noise but nothing to impact out cruise and we would book again for the right price. We just returned from a fabulous British Isles cruise on the Caribbean Princess in Window Suite F309. It was our first window suite (we have cruised in aft full suites before) and were, in general, very pleased with it. The location can't be beat and we really didn't miss the balcony on a relatively cold weather cruise. While I prefer the Vista or Premium Suite layouts (especially for the bathroom), we paid a mini-suite price (more or less) and got 2 cruise credits and the wonderful suite perks. The only drawback we had was horrific stabilizer noises on on our second night (Guernsey to Cobh, Ireland). It felt and sounded like the ship was going to break in two. My husband didn't sleep at all; I fell asleep around 3 am. We feared experiencing it again on the 12 day cruise but the rest was clear sailing. Would we do it again? Probably on another cold weather cruise and just pray for calm seas :D.
IECalCruiser Posted August 31, 2013 Author #77 Share Posted August 31, 2013 (edited) Do you feel you need to book the WS suite you like a year to two ahead of time just to "lock it in" and get the specific cabin? or do you wait just a bit. The WS tend to book quickly. Although there at 7 on the Grand, Golden and Caribbean, 301 is much smaller and 315 is an accessible cabin with a very large walk-in shower rather than a tub so there are really only 5 standard WS cabins. If there is a cruise where the WS pricing is good, they will book quickly. I would book at Launch when cabins become available. DCT61 Posted August 31, 2013 #78 Share Posted August 31, 2013 We thought the stabilizer noise was a slamming door from above, out to the promenade deck. At one point I got out of bed to go up and check and see if a door had unlatched. Only a couple days later did it dawn on me (recalling comments on CC) that it was the stabilizers. I'm probably in a minority here, but I thought the bathroom in the WS was better layed out and more spacious than the bathroom in the vista suite. I particularly liked the double sinks and the closet setup was much better and more easily accessible when 2 people, are getting ready at the same time. We didn't have any stabilizer problems on our Alaska cruise on the Golden.
IECalCruiser Posted September 1, 2013 Author #80 Share Posted September 1, 2013 Another vote for the WS bathroom layout. We had some stabilizer noise but not a real issue for us. We have two more WS booked, 10 day Mexico from SF on the Grand and 17 day Valparaiso to LA on the Golden :)

I should have added Grand in the title. The WS were added to her in 2011 rather than 2008/2009 for the CB/Golden. I believe that the wood is a lighter color but that should be the only significant change. There is photos of the WS under construction on the Grand on the Princess Flickr site.http://m.flickr.com/photos/princesscruises/5688087859/lightbox/ Edited September 1, 2013 by IECalCruiser

Go-Bucks! Posted November 17, 2013 #85 Share Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) We were in the window suite last year and will be again in September. I never saw the price go down and both cruises were booked more than a year in advance. I don't think they put these on sale. The price for the WS's vary alot. When we got one for a cruise in 2011 the price was $200pp LESS than a minisuite! We always get a mini or full suite, but decided to save money and try the WS. Wow, we were really happy we did and didn't miss the balcony; the 2 huge windows are so close to the sea that the views are great. We also just went up one deck and sat on the Promenade deck, but mostly it was chilly weather. BTW, we never smelled any smoke from the hallway/cigar bar, but did have some smell of stale smoke IN the cabin. We reported it and they said they would deep clean. barryvb Posted October 15, 2014 #86 Share Posted October 15, 2014 My wife and I conducted a 31 day South American cruise (LA to Rio) in December 2013 - January 2014 aboard Golden Princess. We were a little leery of booking Suite F303 as it is very low on the ship and has picture windows vice a balcony, but we have rarely used balconies in the past. This was the BEST CRUISE DEAL ,we have ever made. The cabin was large, extremely comfortable, and my wife was not able to fill the three closets (though she tried to do so). The cabin comes with all suite amenities (free minibar on each of the two cruises (we paid for a single two stage cruise and received credit for two cruises), free access to the Specialty Restaurants on the first day of each cruise, fresh flowers often, fresh fruit often, free laundry and dry cleaning (the bill, which we did not have to pay, was for over $600), elegant private breakfast each morning in Sabatini's ..... and the list goes on. The best part of the deal, however, was the room itself - very quiet and in a private area of the ship (the seven suite cabins have their own passageway), Jacuzzi tub, lots of area to stretch out and relax ....... be aware, however, that F301 (next to us) is considerably smaller than the other six suites in this area. One final comment about balconies - we just completed an October 2014 Med cruise on Regal Princess in Cabin M107, a mini-suite located just above the starboard bridge wing - the "balcony" for that room was, in fact, a 600 square foot patio (essentially the "roof" over the starboard bridge wing) - contrary to passenger comments on the internet, the patio was accessible 24 x 7, underway as well as in port - the only restriction was to keep room curtains closed at night at sea to avoid light interference on the bridge - we never used the patio ("balcony") because we were too busy on this beautiful new ship! I've also noted the tip about sitting on the Promenade Deck, most useful. I must buy myself another lined notepad, I'm rapidly filling up the original! puli Posted July 28, 2015 #99 Share Posted July 28, 2015 hope you do not have rough seas. We recently completed a 7 day cruise in a window suite aboard the Caribbean Princess....loved the room until the 2nd night when the seas acted up... loud almost screaming sounds and banging noise...we thought either the casino slot machines on the deck above us had come loose or some teens were having a skate board contest on the promenade over our heads....after 5 nights enduring this we were told by the front desk that we were over the stabilizers and there was nothing anyone could do to reduce the noise !!!! It was so loud we had to yell to one another.... what a bummer... In over 30 cruises on many different lines this was the best suite ever. Loved the arrangement, space, bathroom, and even the location. BUT never again unless we know for sure the seas will be calm. This ruled out the Pacific Northwest cruise we booked our first day as the window suites were the only ones we wanted. Too bad!
