DeRon Posted January 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2013 If trying to get an upgrade when checking in at port, do you do this in the normal check in line? Or do you have to go somewhere else to check on this...like Guest Relations?
Rare Essiesmom Posted January 30, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2013 The people who check you in do not have access to cabin availability, nor the ability to take your money for the upgrade. You can ask at customer Relations when you board, but generally the ships sail full - there is usually a sign there saying there are no cabins available. Even if there were, they would not be a bargain. If you want a better cabin, book it now. EM
Desertbelle Posted January 30, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 30, 2013 20+ cruises and I have yet to see a cabin upgrade available....we gave up asking years ago, but I still notice that "No Cabins Available" sign at the guest services desk on most cruises. Blue Lagoon Posted January 31, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 31, 2013 Anyone ever get a phone call from Miami asking you to give up your sailing because the ship was overbooked?
Rare cruisestitch Posted January 31, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 31, 2013 Yes, it has been reported infrequently here on Cruise Critic.

jomf Posted January 31, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 31, 2013 We had enquired about booking a suite when making our original booking. We decided that the cost was far too much. Two days before we were due to embark we had a phone call offering a suite at a greatly reduced price. We happily accepted.
