sailorgirl Posted February 5, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2013 Riviera, 23 Jan - 2 Feb. I can make this brief - we were hugely impressed. Best food, best service and best bedding we've had on a cruise ship. The attitude of the crew was exceptional. The entertainment was first class. The ship is gorgeous in an understated way. No glitz. Real class. Slightly negative would be the excursions and internet and alcoholic beverages are quite expensive. The odds on the crap table were lowest we've ever seen. We were in a Penthouse Suite deck 11. I'd be glad to answer any questions that I can.
Rare Caroldoll Posted February 5, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2013 We are booked on Mayan Mystique about February 22. I am so looking forward to this ship. If I don't like this one, I am HOPELESS! Thanks for your brief comment, it meant the world to me.
SMNYCruise Posted February 5, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2013 We were on the same cruise as sailorgirl and have the same opinion. This was the best Caribbean cruise we have ever been on. The ship is beautiful and the cabin was very comfortable. We only saw two shows and enjoyed them both. Biggest surprise was dinner at the Terrace buffet. Fresh sushi, crab legs, grilled fish and lobster...every night! We never booked an excurison with the ship as they are very overpriced. Never went to the casino. Enjoyed other ship activities...ping pong, trivia, name that tune, enrichment lectures, and shuffleboard. Fantastic cruise!
Rare Caroldoll Posted February 5, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2013 I love trivia too and that Terrace place sounds good to me. I did book some beach/resort days, but can cancel if our suite has sun. It is aft, the complete ship, so it may. I am just so excited, you can not believe it. JimandStan Posted February 15, 2013 #11 Share Posted February 15, 2013 Can someone tell me a little more about the Spa Terrace? What is the charge to use it? I liked the photo Jim&Stan posted. Looks very nice.Connie Newman The Spa Terrace actually is a terrace, well, an outdoor deck, located forward of the Gymnasium/Spa Complex, and on which the Thalassotherapy Pool (a large hot tub filled with aerated, mineral enriched seawater) is located. Comfortable cushioned lounge chairs (many of them double lounges) with clever semi clam-shell sun visors, furnish the space, and the Pool is used for Spa treatments as well as relaxation. **NOTE** Only the Riviera has a truly Pool-Sized Thalassotherapy Pool. All five ships in the Oceania fleet have a Spa Terrace, but on the Nautica, Regatta and Insignia, the area is proportionally smaller. Use of the Spa Terrace is complimentary either before or after a Spa treatment, and to those guests who are in a Concierge level cabin or above. Alternatively, passes to the Terrace may be purchased for a fee (as LHT explained above): http://www.oceaniacruises.com/ships/...e/default.aspx

Hi Sailorgirl I'm looking at booking our first Oceania cruise and I'm hoping you'll be able to tell me about how formal it is? I've done Silversea, Seabourn and Azamara which were all fab but hubby hates dressing up and we both just need a relaxing, chilled out break. Also, you mention that the Internet is expensive, this is important to us as we need to be online quite a lot even when holidaying. Glad you had a good time :-) Lolly

We used our passes the days we wanted. We bought the passes at the spa reception once we boarded. I wouldn't purchase in advance, nor would I purchase too many days. sailorgirl Posted February 18, 2013 Author #18 Share Posted February 18, 2013 To LOLLYK - Some evenings my husband wore a sport coat, especially when we went to the specialty restaurants, but he was always happier just wearing a nice shirt. I never wore anything close to formal attire but always looked dressy casual. And we always felt appropriate. I took out the unlimited internet package on the second day and I think I was charged $224.90 which was about $25/day. There was a laptop in our suite and I'm very slow when I can't use a mouse, besides downloading or sending mail being slow at times, so I was glad to have the unlimited package.
