dulcimergirl Posted February 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2013 Anybody have any questions? I will do a quick review. Paradise, nice ship, decor is nice. Loved the layout. I have one major problem with Paradise, the shows are to loud, I can't stress this enough. Shows are to loud in the main lounge. Really hurt my ears. My hearing impaired friend had to leave the show her ears hurt so much. When they have it so loud that music becomes painful its time to leave. We saw a bunch of folks leaving because of the volume. It really wasn't music anymore. Turn it down, please. I really liked the furnishings and found my way around easily. Food was ok. Behind the Fun excellent. I really enjoyed the look at the underside of the cruise, you can tell that Paradise is aging, but overall is still an excellent ship. Legend, loved the decor and its very easy to find your way around. The best kept secret is the Golden Fleece restaurant, with the best steak I've ever eaten. Behind the Fun was more expensive but well worth it. Legend is much newer and it shows. Sound level in main lounge was perfect. Lido on Legend was excellent, with plenty of excellent choices for everyone. Loved the French Door cabins. I spent a ton of time in the casino. Didn't spend much time in the dining room, ordered a burger off the dining room menu and it was awful. Can't believe the dining room burger was worse than the lido burger by far. Still I loved the quirky parts of Legend. Legend is an excellent ship with very friendly staff everywhere.
SkyMaster Posted February 10, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2013 I too, love both of those ships. I sailed "Paradise a couple of month ago, and didn't notice that the shows were any louder than the normal BLARE that we've all become used to? Maybe they've got a new sound guy/gal or something? I find the volume, of music, and entertainment overall on ships, to be WAY louder than necessary. I simply don't understand why they think it has to be so damn loud? I was an explosives ordnance disposal guy in the U.S.M.C., and also am a pilot with many, many hours sitting behind a BIG unmuffled engine, so I can't hear "jack", but it's still WAY too loud for me! "SKY"

Did you visit the serenity deck and was it hard to find a chair? Did you have early/late or atd? Did you do an excursion in Cozumel and if so, what was it and what are your thoughts?:)
Cruisegirl6 Posted February 10, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2013 The Fascination back in 09 was the first time ever that I lost weight (not need to either) because it was mainly 90% fast food type foods and we not eat like that, they didn't even have a meat carving at that time. We took the Dream this past October amazing! Totally on par with RC. We going on the Fascination it will be my 49th cruise I guess I will be loosing weight on this to hugh? dulcimergirl Posted February 10, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted February 10, 2013 Paradise we were in U123. A normal inside with plenty of room for 3 old ladies. Legend 4130 an excellent room loved the French Doors. We had a tiny slice of water view but the fresh air was wonderful. The serenity deck on Paradise was nice with 2 hot tubs. Plenty of seats, but we sit in the shade mostly. There is bar service here, but the bar is upstairs in the buffet area. The Legend has an outstanding serenity area, with hammocks and plenty of lounges in the sun and seating in the shade, and one hot tub. This one has a bar in it where Paradise did not. The drawback is you have to walk through the buffet area and out the back to get to it. The hubbub in the buffet area kind of takes the serenity out of it.. lol until you get there. They had a nice jazz group playing music out there one evening. It was outstanding. I was surprised at the Legend layout. Most activities are on deck 2 and 3. Lido was 9. The great thing was no motion on deck 4 at all. The bad thing is no motion on deck 4 at all. I love a rocking ship, my roommate did not.. lol We heard complaining one morning in the elevator about how much the ship had rocked, and we didn't feel a thing. Even the Captain mentioned the sea's roughness one night during the Behind the Fun tour, we never knew it. Hope I've answered some questions. Oh, we had early dining but I mostly didn't go. Even early is to late for me. BTW I lost 8 lbs overall, from before the first cruise to after the second. Mostly because of all the exercise I got walking decks and stairs. Plus, I watched what I ate, and didn't over eat. I did however have a most excellent Bailey's Orange Pina Colada every day, ok, maybe more than one. FlaGrl4Evr Posted February 10, 2013 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2013 Was this a Back 2 Back cruise ? The Paradise and Legend do not sail on the same day. Can you share where you stayed and what you did inbetween ? :)
dulcimergirl Posted February 10, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted February 10, 2013 Sure I can, one of my friends lives in St Pete..she cruised with us. We just drove from her house and stayed a night at the Holiday Inn Rocky Point using points. They have a shuttle to the port and we could leave our car. Got off the Paradise and drove back to St Pete. Then 2 days later we did it again. Aren't points beautiful? Saved alot of money using the points and hotel shuttle over parking for sure. It was 20 total round trip, to use their shuttle.
dcrthatsme Posted February 10, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 10, 2013 Another question about the Serenity on Paradise. Looking at the deck plans, it does not appear there is an easy way to get there. Is there an entrance to this area on the same deck? Was it difficult to get a seat there in the shade on sea days? Thank you.
dulcimergirl Posted February 10, 2013 Author #10 Share Posted February 10, 2013 It's pretty easy to get to the serenity deck on Paradise. You can get there from the Promenade deck, just go straight back through the lounge (its almost always empty during the day) and out the back doors. There's one on each side of the lounge. Or you can go down the stairs from the back of the Lido buffet area, also outside. Yes, we never had a problem finding a seat in the shady areas. Get there early (ish) if you want a sunny spot. dcrthatsme Posted February 10, 2013 #11 Share Posted February 10, 2013 Thank you, Dulcimergirl! I just couldn't picture how to get to the Serenity Deck. I guess I was trying to make something difficult out of something easy!:o
tandemcruzr Posted February 10, 2013 #12 Share Posted February 10, 2013 Serenity on Legend also has a pool. You can get to Serenity by either going through the buffet, or going up to Sun Deck and walking all the way aft and going down the stairs.

gsu_paintballer Posted February 11, 2013 #15 Share Posted February 11, 2013 The only thing I found wrong with the Paradise show lounge was those terrible seats. The backs had to be only about six inches tall.

BIG GUY Posted February 11, 2013 #20 Share Posted February 11, 2013 Can you tell us about the french doors? We are on legend in March and have cabin with French doors
dulcimergirl Posted February 11, 2013 Author #21 Share Posted February 11, 2013 Deck 4 on the Legend and other Spirit class ships have French Doors that look out onto the lifeboats. You can open them but cannot step out. The nice thing is the sea air, and a bit of a view. In answer to the question would I do a B2B or two seperate ships again is YES, I love the ocean and would sail any way any where. I do think 4 cruises in 8 weeks is a bit excessive, but I would do that again also if I could. . B2Bs on the same ship are better, if you like the ship. Personally I love the Legend and would do it again in a split second.
