Glacier Brewhouse

I have heard good things about this restaurant. Would you recommend eating there or at a restaurant at the Westmark?

We ate at the Glacier Brew House one night in Anchorage and enjoyed the food. Staff was very friendly - had a few excellent maritni's - blood orange cosmo - yum. Be sure to call for reservations, it's a busy place.

 

Arrive a bit early and take a look at the gift shops by the restaurant entrance.

We ate there and thought it was good. I have no other restaurants to compare it to but would eat there again. They also own another restaurant nearby that also receives good reviews.

Coral, The other nearby resaurant might be Snow Goose. We ate there our first night in Anchorage, after a long flight from the East coast. We dined on the second level - nice balcony overlooking the water and watching the very late sun set. Allowing for the time change, we didn't have dinner, but ordered an assortment of appetizers.

The Brewhouse is good. I don't think I would do the restaurant in the hotel. The few times I've ate there I was thoroughly unimpressed.

Next door to the Brewhouse is Orso, which also has a good reputation.

As noted above, reservations are absolutley necessary for dinner and as soon as you know what day you'll be dining there if you are looking for a specific time.

I think Glacier is nice. Orso is more upscale. I personally prefer Midnight Sun though. I didn't like Snow Goose, but they have a great location overlooking the water. We've been to all a few times now. There's also Humpy's. :)

 

I've only ever gotten reservations for Orso.

I just about always eat at the Glacier Brewhouse, along with Orso. Both excellent choices, that are consistantly excellent. Snow Goose is great for a meal as well.

I've had to stay at the Anchorage Westmark on business, and I would definitely walk across the street to dine at the Glacier Brewhouse over the Westmark. Definitely make reservations for the Brewhouse, and be prepared that it can be rather noisy.

My brother is a local and he says Humpy's is the place to go in Anchorage!

One year we stayed a a couple of days at eh Westmark -- only had breakfast there.

We ate dinner at the Brewhouse each night.

And the last 2 times that our cruises stopped in Anchorage we ate lunch there.

Enjoyed every meal.
