Board ship at 5, sail away at 8, what to do about dinner?

We will be sailing on zaandam where we will take a bus from Denali to Seward and get on the ship at 5pm. Sail away is scheduled for 8:00. What are your suggestions as to what to do for dinner? I am sure we can eat at the Lido buffet but is the MDR even a possibility?

If you have fixed upper dining, your seating will be 8 P.M. It is likely you'll dine at your usual time.

Your dining will be "normal". Whatever seating you have requested.

The last few times we left from Seward, dinner was Open Seating for everyone.

You went when you wanted to.

Lifeboat drill for us was at 10 AM the next morning.

Last May the life boat drill was right before sailaway. I think since the Concordia it has to be done before sailing.

Every time we have done this cruise on the Zaandam the muster drill has been in between dinner sittings. Usually depart around 8:15 pm. The scenery on the way out of the bay is spectaular if the weather is good and worth staying out on deck for.

That is the cruise we do every year and it is always wonderful! Love seeing Glacier Bay twice: the changes at Margarie Glacier can be quite vivid over just a few days. The repeat ports allow for seeing even more and it is nice to do Haines, which is not offered on many cruises.

I think it was about 2001 as we were backing out about 8:30 PM i was sittng at a back window in main lining room and some orca whales were frocking in the water as we backed out. I will never forget the sight!

We did a similar itinerary on the Ryndam and absolutely loved it. :D We are thrilled to see Glacier Bay twice! Hope you also have a fabulous time! :D
