Eat, drink, or do absolutely nothing. Sit on balcony and watch the world go past. Take a nap, read a book, use the fitness room, browse the shops, check the menu for dinner, get an ice cream cone, and I'm sure I'm forgetting many other options.

We did trivia contests, beer-wine-martini tastings, watched crew demonstrations, bingo, fitness center, listen to singers and music in lounges and poolside, nights in the Spinnaker Lounge, got pictures taken on dress up night, look thru picture gallery, shop in the Galleria, plus many of the kids activities.

My wife said her only problem is there was so much she wanted to do but no way to do it all.

Have only been on the Jewel and looking forward to the next cruise!!

before going to a 7:30 dinner at the MDR. There will be classical, jazz and some Sinatra type music at various places on the ship. Usually, there will be a piano player who sings and takes requests from the audience for playing songs. There is nothing like live music, it makes one romantic.

- Laid around reading

- Relaxing in the spa

- Taking naps

- Drinking and watching the waves

- Go on the waterslides basically nonstop

- Relax in a hot tub

- Lie in the sun

- At night find a fun venue and go dance

Is there arts and crafts on the Gem? For adults? I love arts and crafts. I'm looking forward to the different kinds of tastings...

It all depends on the cruise director and what they have scheduled. You may or may not ... have to read the Daily to be sure.

After 2 cruises my DH and I have decided we enjoy the sea days more than the port days.

We enjoy using the spa pass lounging, reading and relaxing. We also have gone to the martini tastings, trivia contests, and I have been a contestant in a game show. Bingo is fun, and there is dancing lessons. They have card games too. We like the variety of places for entertainment, not just the main theater show, but the smaller venues for piano music and conversation. You could have your pictures taken in the evening, and some ships have karaoke and even a cigar room. There is also an internet cafe, and library.

You can either go go go, or relax relax relax! It is all up to you! After 4 kids and an annual trip to Disney each year, we like the combo- some go and some relax!

It's funny, my wife and I went on our first cruise in Nov, 2011. She was VERY worried that she'd be bored and out of things to do on sea days. It took her maybe 4 hours of being on the SHIP (we weren't allowed on the boats...those are for emergencies) and she realized she was going to have NO issues occupying her time (or just as importantly, NOT occupying). There's something about being on the ship that makes you realize you don't have to schedule your entire day. That laying in the sun, or reading on your balcony or chatting at a bar (or eating like a pig!) will serve quite well. The Epic, based on my understanding, will have SO much to do that more than likely, you'll be wishing you had MORE time to do stuff...and you will look back on this post and wonder what you were thinking!! Have a great time!!

Nobody seemed to have mentioned this yet, but there are often "seminars" or talks from the jewelry store. While I know they're basically commercials designed to get you to buy something, they're actually interesting and I always learn something. Plus I like window shopping, even if I never buy it.

I normally cruise in the haven on the Jewel class ships and use the courtyard for most of the day to enjoy reading, sleeping, listening to music and enjoying the sun in a quiet area. We use the courtyard butler/valet every day to serve us breakfast, lunch, drinks and snacks while lounging the day away in the courtyard.

Our first two cruises were in an inside cabin which was fine. Last year we splurged (it was our 10th anniversary) on an aft balcony. Even though it rained every day and we hardly used the balcony, it was so great to relax in our cabin with that wonderful view. Relaxation is my #1 reason for cruising.
