cle-guy Posted March 17, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2013 My 1st crusie was on Constellation few weeks ago. Now doing the TATL coming up in april on Eclipse. I know this sounds stupid, but on vacation i just love great bloody marys. OPn constellation I never found a bartender that could make one decent, and thy seemed to have NO premade mix. Just can of normal tomato juice and sometimes tobacco. Any ideas where/if I can get some on Eclipse? Seriously thinking of bring my own if needed... Perhaps if they had used Tabasco it would have been better:)
Wine-O Posted March 17, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2013 Bring your own mix. I like Mr. & Mrs. T's. On the ship they use tomato juice and add a pre-mixed concoction.

jeno Posted March 17, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 17, 2013 Odd you should mention the Bloody Marys on the Constellation. My friends and I were on the March 4th cruise. We talked about the Bloody Marys we would have for lunch right after we boarded and went to lunch. Sure enough, right on our table was a sign with a beautiful, large Bloody Mary in a tulip shaped glass with a big celery stalk and olives. When it arrived it was in a skinny little glass with no celery and no flavor. I had ordered mine extra spicy. It had absolutely no spice and had watery, plain, not very good tomato juice and vodka. When I questioned the waiter he said that the picture was only for show and they aren't allowed to serve it in that kind of glass. Couldn't have celery because the weren't serving salad (whatever that meant). He also said mine was spicy ( had no spice, believe me). Talk about bait and switch... Luckily, the cruise was great! Luckily, the cruise was great! some bartenders aren't....they just got the job but don't have a clue how to make anything other than a scotch on the rocks. Hopefully, you sent your bloody mary back. I've had excellent bloody mary's with lots of spice on most of the ships (I always order them extra spicy)....you just found an impostor bartender. As far as the celery, sometimes it's there, sometimes not...doesn't bother me. A glass is a glass...

I agree....buy a bottle of vodka for your room and bring your favorite mix. I get one at Tuesday Morning called Brazos Legends Lonesome Red (although we will use Mr. & Mrs. T's when we can get the above) that is fantastic! I've only seen it sold online, but it is our favorite. Bloody Marys are one of my favorite drinks. Here in Maryland usually have Old Bay on the rim of the glass....I'd have to bring that along too....makes them really tasty!
Karen@Steve Posted March 17, 2013 #10 Share Posted March 17, 2013 Last cruise I brought on V-8 juice and my own blend of Tabassco and worchestire sauce and a bottle of olives! Just add vodka and viola!

JanineM Posted March 17, 2013 #16 Share Posted March 17, 2013 I was a bartender for years & we never used premix. Vodka, tomato juice, salted rim, celery stalk. Bloody Caesars were much more popular (this was in Canada). Celery salt on the rim, vodka, clamato juice, three shakes of Worcestershire sauce, two shakes of Tabasco, celery. I bet you could spice your Bloody up properly with some Tabasco & Worcestershire!
twosit Posted March 17, 2013 #17 Share Posted March 17, 2013 That is one of my favorite drinks! I love zing zang mix. I have not seen anyone here mention horseradish--I really like horseradish in my bloodies. I have a friend who mixes great pitchers of bloodies and leaves them on her lanai for us to grab while golfing...Yummy! She makes hers with pickles--I have started adding pickles for mine at home too. My problem with the pre-made mixes is that they tend to be very high in sodium. That's why I have been using low-sodium v-8. On the Constellation my bloody mary at the elite breakfast was very good. On Silhouette it was just tomato juice--no garnish and very little spice. It doesn't matter much on the second one;)

mikechass Posted March 17, 2013 #22 Share Posted March 17, 2013 Canadian here who lovvvves a good Ceasar. (virgin mind you but still loves them) There was a bar tender who worked in the CASINO bar, across from the shops that had Clamato and made AMAZING Ceasars, He only had a limited amount of mix but once the other 600 Canadians on board found out you had to go early to get them. I will take a Ceasar over a bloody mary anyday. The Clamato MAKES IT!!! Enjoy. BTW, we always called him Andy because he looked just like ANDY GARCIA!!
