Secrets of the Glory

When I was on Glory I couldn't find the fish 'n chips. Asked 5 crew who didn't know where it was. Apparently, in the Lido buffet area there is a staircase up a deck and it's there.

If you look for the dessert station you will see the stairs located there.

see the dessert station in the middle of this area-- there's the stairs to the right upstairs is the fish and chips station

Yup. It's upstairs from the main buffet -- the one with the dessert station in the middle of the floor. The other buffet has the staircase leading up to the Emerald Steakhouse.

I didn't figure this out until halfway through the cruise. I loved it up there, not just because I love fish and chips but also because people generally don't know about it and it's quieter and easier to find tables there.

Another tip, if it hasn't already been mentioned: bring a small power bar or cube tap. There's only one outlet on the desk.

Hi All,

I will soon be sailing on the Glory. I am new to Carnival and have only cruised once when I won a 7 day cruise on Princess 12 years ago.

I am a bit research crazy :) and would love to add any special tips or places to my documents. Please share your Glory secrets or special places with me! (That sounds a bit naughty!).

Thank you!!!!!

If it matters, I'll be mid ship on Empress deck doing western Caribbean.

Deck 6 & 7 all the way forward and out the side door gets you on the forward viewing deck.

Is that always open, barring weather issues? I don't remember it from my last Glory sailing.

Believe so. I stayed on deck 6 so I found it eventually. Most guests don't find it because the door isn't labeled and you assume it's just an emergency-only exit or something.

I actually found them because I am a die-hard Star Trek: The Next Generation fan and wanted to be standing on deck Ten Forward. At first I was bummed to discover there was no lounge or anything there, just cabins... then I looked closer and realized there was indeed an open deck there!

you cant see the doors from the hall. You really have to know that the door is there.

If you do have rude people that keep insisting to slamming the door- throw a towel over the top to catch it before it does slam

The Serenity area is very nice - all the way forward on the top 2 decks. On sea days you can get sandwiches at the Serenity bar for lunch - I thought the shrimp salad was tasty.

good to know!

Great Shiip, Just sailed on her for the 3rd time in February. All the 2.0 upgrades are fantastic! Punchline breakfast was great. Try the breakfast burrito there too! Guy burgers were filling, not greasy. good sides too. We were with a group of 20 so we had 2 tables of 10 in the Platinum dining room. Great service! Room steward was over the top, even sent a comment to Carnival so they knew what an asset they had on this ship. Went to all the production shows which were well done. Spent a lot of time in the casino....won too! Spa service was relaxing, did the foot reflexology and back massage on a port day so saved a few bucks. I highly recommend the steak house. Great experience, worth the $35 if you're a real foodie.

Can be a little fustrating getting around if you forget that you can't walk through on deck 3. Aft elevators will go straight down to the Platinum dining room and venues on deck 5.

Have a great cruise! :D

Back in 2008, my now ex-wife and I got married in St Thomas while on this ship. That night, the Captain let us have his table right in the very front of the dining room so that all of our friends and family could be near us.

I opened a bottle of champagne and the cork hit the ceiling and put a dent in it. I would be very interested to know if they ever fixed it or if the dent is still in the ceiling tile.

I think it was the Scarlett dining room then, but has since been renamed and im not sure to what.

No, wrong Jeff and Donna. I've been a "domestic engineer" for the past 10 years and Jeff has worked for Ford for 20 years. We've been married 15 years.

I'm soooo looking forward to Sunday!! Are you ready?

Is there any way to get up there other than the stairs? I'll have a stroller and would prefer to just go where the seating is more likely to be available. I can take the stairs a few times to get food. Good exercise before the Chocolate Melting Cake :D

I wonder if it wil be open on the cruise to nowhere? and thanks for posting the food porn! YUM :D

I sure hope everything that would normally be open for a longer cruise will be open for our CTN. I mean I'm paying close to what I would pay for a five day for this (if I changed to an inside cabin) and I want the best experience.

Take an elevator and walk to it.

Does anyone know where the laundry room is on Glory? Sure would be helpful to wash a couple of pairs of jeans on day 4 or 5. How much does a wash and a dry cost? I Assume they have those small boxes for a one load wash.
