Crusin Karen Posted June 22, 2013 #901 Share Posted June 22, 2013 Yes, almost all the ships have a Future Cruise Desk and Specialist . . . same deal as the FCC's used to be but you have to book ON A SHIP. You can also get friends and family certificates good for OBC when you book. They are free. Okay, please bear with me. Sorry to "highjack" the thread and hope I don't come across as a complete imbecile, but I am used to booking as ES on the CCL website. I also pick my SPECIFIC CABIN. So if I am on Splendor in February, 2014, I can go to the future cruise desk and book the cabin I want, book as ES, same as I would do on line and ALSO get a $100 OBC for a January, 2015 cruise??:confused: Is this pp or just per cabin? TIA. ;)

Next time I board Splendor I will be armed and dangerous! I will figure everything out between now and then and book the next cruise as soon as the FC desk opens. ;) I only have to wait 8 more months!!! I already have my cruises all set to book and am waiting to board in Sept. The only thing I'll have to do is see the specific cabin that I want. I know the exact cabin I want. I only hope they are still available in Feb. for the following January. There are only a few of them on the Splendor. That is why I like to book early, to get the cabin I want. I often wished that they would offer a tour of the different cabins.
Cyber Kat Posted June 22, 2013 Author #906 Share Posted June 22, 2013 Oh, yea...loved those FCC. I honestly think this is one of the worst decisions CCL made. BUT....I must have missed something...you get OBC if you book a cruise while on a cruise? Can you still pick your cabin and book ES? We are going on Splendor again in February (2014) so maybe I will just do some research and if it feels right, I can book the 2015 B2B then. GT is my absolute favorite POC, have never been to Antigua, and we were only in St. Kitts once years ago and DH wasn't feeling well, so we didn't see too much except the monkies! You got up to a $200 OBC if you booked on board plus a OBC certificate to give to friends who also book (don't think it had to be the same cruise). We never really got to the desk when anyone was there, so I"m just going by the signs that were there. You got a bunch of goodies too - back pack, lanyard - I forget what all else. If we book this, I'm going to do Early Saver and get trip insurance for sure! Unless there is a really good sale for Past Guests.
Cyber Kat Posted June 23, 2013 Author #907 Share Posted June 23, 2013 I just found out why my first review/ramble never posted. I had too many images in it. I hit the submit button and went on to something else without realizing that it didn't post. The new one is up there!
irishnyc Posted June 25, 2013 #908 Share Posted June 25, 2013 Anyone that disembarked recently... what do you think of a 10am car service reservation? We're not interested in self-disembarking because DD is only 3.5 and pokey enough in the morning, and DH has no interest in the rush to get off. I was in in zone 21 and i called for a 10am cab. It wasn't until a little after 10:30am when i was able to clear custom and leave the terminal. Debark seemed to be about 30 min delay according to that debark paper that list the zone times :( Edited June 25, 2013 by shof515
irishnyc Posted June 25, 2013 #910 Share Posted June 25, 2013 Do you know how they determine zones? We're all first time on Carnival, so no perks. Does it go by deck and location?
BetMax Posted June 25, 2013 #911 Share Posted June 25, 2013 We'll be in San Juan from 3:00-11:00. Will the ship casino be open at any time before departure? On past cruises sometimes it is, sometimes it's not. Does San Juan have casinos? Thx

bangzoom6877 Posted June 25, 2013 #914 Share Posted June 25, 2013 I haven't cruised with Carnival in 13 years...we have gone on a few cruises with NCL, and they have allowed us to wait in the cabin as an option on the last morning before disembarking. What is Carnival's procedure for disembarkation on the last morning? We don't carry off all our luggage because there is too much of it (we have small children). The way I remember it, we had to go to a specific lounge with the carry-on luggage and wait a while before our luggage tag color was called. Forgive me if this sounds ancient, it's been a while since I've been on Carnival!

They susually ask you to go to a lounge or lido (weather permitting). They will not let you sit or stand in the lobby.

I do not know for certain, but it was explained to me that it is random with floors not near each other (ex. 9 then 4 then 6 then 2 etc.) so that elevators are not clogged. I don't beleive other than suites that type of room comes into play. They could be the same week to week, but I would not know that. If you have special needs or requriements, then go to the guest relations desk and they will help you.

Maraprince Posted June 25, 2013 #922 Share Posted June 25, 2013 I dont think they want you in your room till 10 or so if you have a high number. They susually ask you to go to a lounge or lido (weather permitting). They will not let you sit or stand in the lobby. On 6/2 sailing of Splendor passengers were asked to vacate their cabins by 8:30 AM. You are allowed to wait either in the Lido or the main show room until your zone is called. New passengers either in suites or platinum level start arriving on the ship a little before 10:00 AM and are seated near either the Shore Excursion desk or the Pursers's office waiting to go to their cabins. They are also allowed to go to the Lido or the main show lounge to wait. Also, if there is a wedding party, they will be allowed on board while passengers are still departing. The biggest hold up is either non US passengers who are slow to report to Immigration or the delay in getting the self-disenbarking passengers away from the elevators on the 3rd floor so those passengers leaving by zone can get to the main lounge. It is hard to even get off the elevators since the line for the self-disenbark runs right through the same spot and you will be warned not to cut into the line sometimes not so nicely. If you are going to the lounge you need to go around the corner away from the self diembarks. MARAPRINCE

Hmm...$100 for our family in that case...not sure if it's worth it and don't think DH will go for it. The priority embarkation and debarkation sound good to me, but we are traveling with other family members to and from the ship and we like that group "Welcome Aboard" photo, so I would also have to convince 2 other cabins worth of people to do it. For dining reservations, we decided we're not going to the steakhouse and we did the early seating dinner. We don't go to a port with a tender either...we're going to St. Thomas, San Juan and Grand Turk. So yeah, probably not fit for our situation.
