Port fees

We have booked our very first cruise next year, Carnival Spirit to Fiji, I was wondering about Port fees, are they included in our price or are they added to our bill. If added to our bill I would like an idea of how much they will be.

Besides alcohol and shore visits is ther any other extra fees?

Port fees are included in the price you pre-pay, and if the ship skips a port, they will be refunded.

 

What is not included is "gratuity" - don't know exactly how much on Carnival, you may check their website, usually it's $10-12 per person per day.

Port fees are always included in your bill. Your price will not change. Have a great cruise. ;)

Our TA always sends us a breakdown of all fees since we have booked a cruise.

Also when I look at the prices of cruises on HAL's site, HAL shows the cost of the cruise the total for port fees and government taxes.

The last cruise we took, "Port Taxes and Gov't fees" were just over $250. I asked our TA exactly who got what out of that $250. She said, " I don't know.....Call the line". I did. They wanted to know my booking #, confirmation #, why I wanted to know. blah, blah, blah. They said "we can not divulge that information". WHY NOT?!?!?!?!?!?! If I'm paying $250+ for "whatever", I think I have the right to know who is getting how much. I find it interesting that on an old cruise ticket I still have with assorted other cruise memorabilia, port taxes were $6.50.

I think that Carnival Australia has a business model that does not include the American style gratuity.

 

Notice that their fares are considerably more than a similar cruise from a US port....supposedly that is to cover the 'gratuities' that would be added on in the US.

 

Australia seems to have a wage/labor structure that requires everyone be paid a living wage up front....not requiring a tip.

Port fees are always included in the total you are told. The advertising will usually not show the taxes (it is in the fine print) but once you book it will be in the total. It is the amount that the port charges for the docking of the ship and the use of the terminal.

 

The reason that Princess would not discuss it with you is because you used a travel agent. They will not discuss any of the charges unless you book directly with them.

The OP is sailing on Carnival, not Princess.
