Vancouver and luggage

Our cruise ends in Vancouver at 7:30 am, but our flight does not leave till 4:30 pm (from Vancouver). Does anyone have ideas of what we can do with our luggage so we can explore the city without our luggage?

Thanks,

Matt

Rent a car. I don't think there are storage lockers anywhere you could use.

I've read that Priority Baggage operates a luggage storage facility at Canada Place Cruise Ship Terminal. You can leave your luggage at Canada Place after you get off your cruise or before you board. You can even have your luggage transferred to the airport so you can spend the day exploring Vancouver without having to lug luggage.

Luggage storage is available from 5:00 AM-1:00 AM. Call 604-303-4500 for more information.

There is baggage storage at Canada Place. Also, you may have a "bags" program available, for the cruiseline to send it direct to the airport, depending on participating airlines, for a fee.

Do you know if Princess has such a program? I tried a few search works on their website and couldn't find any information.

You will need to verify when you get on board. (or get first hand information from prior 2013 sailors) This is a program, that is always in a state of change, and even though I sailed Princess last year, this year could be a different story.

This is no longer offered. It was discontinued 2 seasons ago for all cruise lines/airlines in Vancouver.

We have the same problem. We are on the Radiance and our flight out of Vancouver is 10 pm. You can take the ships post tour for Vancouver and they handle your luggage. You can use the hop on hop off bus through the cruise line and do your own thing.

A car would give you luggage storage, transport to the airport, and a means to see more of the city and neighboring area, all in one.

Drive around Stanley Park, or cross the Lion's Gate Bridge to visit Capilano or Lynn Canyons, or to visit the Queen Elizabeth Park gardens (superb, close to the quality of the Butchart Gardens in Victoria, but way cheaper and easier) or visit the Granville Island market (food stalls, crafts, restaurants, cool things) or visit the Punjabi market on South Main, walk along the beach out at the Spanish Banks...

There are so many things to do with a day, but without a car the bulk of them will be inconvenient and/or inaccessible.

Are the car rental companies convenient to get to after disembarking?

  • 1 month later...

Would you need to reserve a car ahead of time or are they generally available that day near Canada Place?

Also, are there any requirements for US citizens other than a driver's license?

Thank you.

To get the best price I would advise making a reservation in advance. National has a location in the lobby of the Pan Pacific hotel at Canada Place and all of the other companies have a location within 6 to 8 blocks of Canada Place and all will pick you up at Canada Place and shuttle you to their downtown location. Beyond you DL you there are no other requirements for a US citizen other than a major credit card or lots of cash...you may want to check with your auto insurance company about your coverage in Canada if your credit card doesn't cover you.
