Annoying issues on both the Liberty and Victory

Don't get me wrong lots of positives, but people want to know negatives also. Here is what we found.

#1 Photographers. Out of hand... Both ships... They come to you every night at dinner, sometimes twice. Guess what...... We have a camera. If we want a picture, we will get a fellow cruise guest to take a picture!!! And will do the same for them. Out of control.

Photographers taking pictures as you get off the ship at a port.... They slow the line up immensely.

Here is an Idea Carnival, instead of posting every ones picture on a wall, why not make them digital, and allow people to choose pictures either through the interactive TV or a kiosk. The picture wall is a waste of paper and pictures.

#2 Guys burger joint hours of operation and the Mongolian wok.

12pm-6pm and 12pm-3pm.

Really? Why limited hours? Stupid.

#3 Cruise director on Victory should be fired. No direction from "goose" what so ever. Liberty Karl with a K was outstanding.

#4 Being made to feel guilty by the pursers desk staff because we elected to take auto tips off. We did tip generously, and yes we know it goes to all the staff, but TIPS are for good service. I don't TIP till I see the service. Just my opinion, but the staff behind the desk were very rude when we took the auto tip function off. Also you have to wait almost two days into the cruise to take it off.

#5 Casino Goers....... My GF played slots for 40 min throughout the whole cruise. She received 77 points towards a drink. I believe you need 1500 points for a free drink. I played close to $250.00-$300.00 per night on the blackjack table, and at the end of the cruise received 77 points!!! They take your card every time you get money to play off your sail and sign card, so they do track your play. Its a rip off. Any real casino will bring drinks while you play, but not Carnival.

#6 Free drink that you get for multiple cruisers. We received out certificate for the free drinks, LMAO you can only use it for breakfast or lunch and only at he Atrium lounge. STUPID. Carnival can't even give returning guests a gift without putting restrictions on it.....

#7 On Liberty, free drink tasting at the shops. A guy tells you hes gonna get you drunk, come drink for free, come taste test. LMAO... The scam here is you only get one shot, then you have to go to the back of the line which is 500 people deep to get another shot. They advertise a specific liqueur on sale at that particular point. You have to buy it NOW to get the deal. LMAO, no you don't, it was on sale till the end of the month in the brochure.

#8 Swarovski crystal in the shops. Shows 10% off all figurines. Swarovski retailers are NOT allowed to put figurines on sale. They never do. This was confirmed by Swarovski retailers in Grand Cayman, and in my home town.

#9 While on board the Victory on the last day on the ship "fun day at sea" the whole ship was sick. The boat was travelling at a high rate of speed. Little did we know there was a reason for this. The needed to get closer to Miami fast as they has a sick person who needed to be air lifted via chopper off the ship. So they compromised the whole ships passengers and everyone was sick due to the high seas and them going like a bat out of hell to get close enough fast for this air rescue. March 8th Carnival Victory. I'm sure other passengers have commented about this.

Carnival is the only cruise line I have travelled with, This is just a few of the issues we had. There was positives, but that's for another post.

Let me get this straight. You're complaining that the ship sailed fast so they could get within helo range to evacuate a medical emergency?

Really?

Wow!

Not complaining on the fact that they helped a person, but the fact that Carnival made the whole ship sick doing it.

BTW we were told the person had a broken arm....

Carnival never discusses what the injury is, but if the person needed to be airlifted, I'm sure it was more than just a broken arm.

And if if was you or your family member who needed to be airlifted, you wouldn't be complaining about the speed the of the ship making everyone sick.

Maybe you should try another line and see how SIMILAR things are.

Here is an Idea Carnival, instead of posting every ones picture on a wall, why not make them digital, and allow people to choose pictures either through the interactive TV or a kiosk. The picture wall is a waste of paper and pictures. Agree. Must be the technology costs more than they make on photos or..for some reason they feel they would sell less photos? I don't know why they don't change this?

Unless you have bad service, I disagree with removing the "tips". I don't think of this as a conventional tip, it is a SERVICE CHARGE. I am actually glad the guest services department is rude when passengers are removing tips without just cause. I wish Carnival would fix this ongoing problem by renaming the gratuities, "service charge" and making it non-negotiable.

#6 Free drink that you get for multiple cruisers. We received out certificate for the free drinks, LMAO you can only use it for breakfast or lunch and only at he Atrium lounge. STUPID. Carnival can't even give returning guests a gift without putting restrictions on it..... I agree that this is an annoying system, it seems like Carnival is looking for a way to give a "gift" that not everyone will accept, therefore, saving money. so I would say it is successful promotion! However, If you don't want to go the Atrium lounge. (or the comedy brunch)..then don't. You are not out anything. By the way, one of my traveling companions was able to get a non-opened can of coke with the coupon...(Just an option if it is too early in the day for you to have a drink!).

March 8th Carnival Victory. I'm sure other passengers have commented about this. If my loved one was ill enough to require an air lift, I would be very thankful for the captain for driving like a "bat out of hell" and I wouldn't mind them doing so for anyone's loved one. You would have felt differently if it was your husband/wife/child etc.

Other passangers said the lady broke her arm the previous night on the LIDO deck dancing. So NO it wasn't Carnival who told us what happened, but they did announce the "lady was being airlifted to Miami hospital". So they DID tell us it was a woman, and the broken arm story is TRUE. So if you think getting 3000 passengers sick over a broken arm is good with you and you feel you got your moneys worth, all the power to ya. How would you like to be sick just before going to a nice port because of this? What if it ruined your vacation? So many cheer leaders for Carnival on this site its stupid......

guys is open until 6 pm as you point out. the one night I decided to eat here, I went just before they closed .. and then went into the buffet that opens at 6 pm to build a salad etc.

I was on the victory in march had a great time and a lady was air lifted for medical reasons and I didn't get sick or recall the ship going any faster than usual. Cruise director was great. But everybody has their own opinion.

This is the same cruise we were on! She broke her arm. We were told later during conversation with Carnival via phone, that anyone going to the doctor on the ship was given a free night stay in Miami because so many were sick cause of that reason. But the catch is you had to see the doctor. LMAO

We did back to back cruises. Went on the Liberty right after the Victory. Liberty is like a whole other cruise line. 100 times better. The only time we heard from "GOOSE" was when he was trying to get us off the ship for debarkation.

I am far from a Carnival Cheerleader, however no one would be airlifted for a simple hairline fracture. A "Broken Arm" can be a minor, or a very major injury. Perhaps it was a compound fracture with compromised circulation, without quick intervention it could lead to permanent loss of function or limb.....perhaps there was uncontrolled bleeding etc.......Air evacuation is very dangerous not to mention expensive. Whatever the injury/illness, it would have to be very serious for an airlift to be called for. Please try to be understanding that this was a very serious issue for someone and just be thankful it wasn't for you or your family.

Carnival Did there due diligence. They gave all the sick passengers a free night stay in Miami as tonns of people were sick because of this. Although the catch was you had to see there doctor. The Vomit bags were placed all over the ship as people were very ill... My GF and I were doing Laundry and had seen workers cleaning up room (S) as people were vomiting profusely due to the speed that ship was going and the height of the waves.....

Did they tell you the severity of the broken arm? A broken arm can be extremely serious on land (yet alone at sea) without proper medial attention. Severity depends on the age of the patient, where the break happened on the arm, was it a compound fracture, did it nick something to cause bleeding and so on. The ship might not have had the equipment to deal with the fracture, Just saying...no I'm not a Carnival Cheerleader!

So are you saying the figurines aren't 10% less than you would pay in Miami (HO city), or is your gripe that carnival appears to not be following what you have researched as Swarovski retailer practices?

As a retail buyer, I could go on, but will leave it at my question.

Do you realize that fuel costs skyrocket when the ship incrreases speed like this.

Do you really think they did this without just cause?

I agree with you about the photographers but you come off very poorly here.

What im saying is the 10% off is the same price you would pay anywhere else. Only advantage is no tax on the ship, but I don't believe we paid any in Grand Cayman!:D

I don't mean after the ship arrived I mean once the passenger fell and broke her arm and it was determined that she needed to be evacuated. At that point what do you think Carnival should have done.

Maybe a different kind of vacation would be best for you in the future. Live and Learn!

We have been on over 50 cruises and have enjoyed them all.... sailing on Breeze this Saturday.... WOOOHOOO!!

I have a curious kind of question-- but always believed that the slower the ship sailing the more the motion was felt-

if you hit rough waters you will feel that motion no matter what speed the ship is doing.

My thoughts exactly. As a former Orthopedic nurse, I have seen a "simple" break turn into a serious medical situation. This woman's injury was likely much more serious than the original poster realizes.

While its true a lady had to be airlifted from the ship and you say its true a lady broke her arm are you sure the two incidents are related? Very well could be 2 separate incidents

Far from a cheerleader. Tried Carnival once didn't have a good experience and was given 15% off each passenger to try them again so we will be in about 19 days.

That said we were on a Norwegian ship last May with bad weather. Bags were out and people were sick and we were going a fair speed. I don't think Carnival can control the weather or the health of passengers.
