sherifa Posted April 22, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2013 I haven't seen anything on this subject since 2011. How is the coffee in the MDR and lido IYHO?
FireEater Posted April 22, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2013 I haven't seen anything on this subject since 2011. How is the coffee in the MDR and lido IYHO? Was good last week on Freedom. MDR, Lido, and room service was all the same coffee. At least to taste for me.
firefly333 Posted April 22, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2013 The new coffee is a lot better than the old coffee supplier. I dont think its bad.

sherifa Posted April 22, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted April 22, 2013 That sounds good! Not the most important feature of a cruise, but nice!
Express Man Posted April 22, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Was Ok in MDR for our Easter cruise. Cafe was good also.
redstar86 Posted April 22, 2013 #7 Share Posted April 22, 2013 I haven't seen anything on this subject since 2011. How is the coffee in the MDR and lido IYHO? Last I recall in June 2012, I believe I used the phrase "melted brown crayons".
Oh away I go! Posted April 22, 2013 #8 Share Posted April 22, 2013 I never sailed on Carnival for the coffee, but to put it bluntly... "it never was a highlight during breakfast". There are other more recent things which have driven me to explore other options other than Carnival...
andersonrm Posted April 22, 2013 #9 Share Posted April 22, 2013 The coffee was actually not bad on both our December cruise aboard the Splendor, and our March cruise aboard the Breeze. We did purchase a couple of specialty coffees, but always had the Lido coffee otherwise. While we're not coffee snobs, we do appreciate a quality cup of coffee. If you like mochas, try mixing the coffee with the hot chocolate.
SteelerCruiser Posted April 22, 2013 #10 Share Posted April 22, 2013 I am not a hot coffee drinker but the Wife is and she said it is good!
johanBjorn Posted April 22, 2013 #11 Share Posted April 22, 2013 I've never ordered coffee on a ship before. Would someone mind telling me the best places to get it? We sail on the Legend in September. Also, is it free like the ultra-concentrated 'lemonade' or is it a pay-per-cup deal?
seannyice81 Posted April 22, 2013 #12 Share Posted April 22, 2013 I thought the coffee was ok before they changed it. After the change I liked it more. Not the best I've had, but good. The spiked coffees of course, are even better.
etwright Posted April 22, 2013 #13 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Drinkable!! Much better than the crap I used to drink on Navy ships!!!:D:cool::D
klct39lg Posted April 22, 2013 #14 Share Posted April 22, 2013 I drank it, but it was just okay. The worst I've had was on the Golden Princess...vending machine coffee would have been preferable.
Quilting_Cruiser Posted April 22, 2013 #15 Share Posted April 22, 2013 The coffee's okay. I get a latte at the coffee shop each morning and enjoy that with a book while waiting for DD to wake up and start the day. They're easily as good as Starbucks. I have coffee with dessert in the evenings and it's fine. Not great, but I've certainly had worse. I've never ordered coffee on a ship before. Would someone mind telling me the best places to get it? We sail on the Legend in September. Also, is it free like the ultra-concentrated 'lemonade' or is it a pay-per-cup deal? You can get it free on the Lido and in the dining room. Much better coffee can be found at the coffee shop where you pay by the cup.

LIZE Posted April 22, 2013 #17 Share Posted April 22, 2013 I have had the coffee on the Magic. MDR good, room service good, Lido just barly ok. Well be doing the Magic again in January. I sailed her Jan 2012. I think might have been before they changed the coffee. You will love the Magic. She was our first cruise and we fell in love with crusing. WAHMto5 Posted April 22, 2013 #18 Share Posted April 22, 2013 We find the coffee to be pretty good;) The coffee shop is also good though did not care for some of their espresso drinks
mrypop Posted April 22, 2013 #19 Share Posted April 22, 2013 We just got off the Breeze last week and the new coffee is much better than the old. The old coffee was weak and the new coffee is stronger which my husband and I liked much better.
mbleackl Posted April 22, 2013 #20 Share Posted April 22, 2013 We always take Starbucks singles (Via) with us when we cruise. That way if the coffee is bad we at least have something drinkable.
stlrboo Posted April 22, 2013 #21 Share Posted April 22, 2013 From a black coffee drinker, you will not go away sad..!:o Its not the best brewed coffee, but it will do, considering the number of cups they have to serve in X amount of time.. I don't care for Expresso or flavored coffee, so I am of no help there!;) If you grind your own fresh beans, use spring/distilled water only, you may be disappointed..!:p
Sinusoid Posted April 22, 2013 #22 Share Posted April 22, 2013 From a black coffee drinker, you will not go away sad..!:o Black coffee drinker here. Is it Strong like Bull like the RCI coffee I had? I guess it's better strong that weak, because strong can be diluted, but RC's coffee took the hair off my chest then put it right back on.

Have to agree..! I think they just make it strong, thinking most people will use sugar and cream to 'break it down'..!;)

This is what I do, too. I make and drink a cup of my own every morning either using hot water from room service or the Lido. I'll also bring the individual flavored creamers I can't drink the coffee on Carnival--just can't like it. I do like a spiked specialty coffee from the cafe a few times during the cruise. They are very good, as are their blended coffees.
