Celebrity and MGM Grand

Hi!!

We recently (Feb. 13) on RCCL and was able to take advantage of a new program between RCCL and MGM resorts.

Does anyone know if Celebrity has the same program?? We are sailing on Celebrity again in Oct. 13' and wouldn't mind having a few of those little perks.

Thanks!!

Ohhhh great question.

We have just recently found out how fun Vegas is. I have however done several cruises on RCCL and X... what kind of perks did you enjoy??

We are heading to Vegas in June and a cruise on Allure in August.

Would love to know what some of your experience was.

Thanks

Well - my husband and I have MGM cards and based on your play level you had some perks with RCCL. My husband is gold level and we received: 6 free drink coupons, two dinners in a specialty restaurant (one night - for both of us), a ships tour (we didn't use this perk). I can't remember anything else - but if I think of something, I'll add it later.

I know it wasn't a lot - but we appreciated it none the less.

IMHO, I wouldn't get close to MGM Grand in Las Vegas. There are too many other fabulous places to stay and/or visit. Off hand, it makes me think of an old, mass-market ship, cavernous and lacking in contemporary decor. Row after row of slots..... but interesting restaurants, one for $325 pp price fixe.

I often warn friends not to go into MGM as it will take too much time to find ones way out.

My preference is for time at Bellagio, Ceasars, Wynn, Encore, M, Cosmopolitan, Mandalay Bay, Venetian, and checking out the new scene on Freemont Street.

Of course, it's subjective and good that we like different places for different reasons. The street scene around MGM is getting worse, esp. at night. Just saying..... there are lots of better choices.

Marissa, MGM owns all sorts of properties.

We are going to Monte Carlo and it is an MGM property.

As are a few you mentioned...

I did some reading and found that you have to have signed up for the MLife card, which we have.

I am going to call tomorrow to get some more details.

Will post if and when I find out.

I openned this thread out of genuine interest in the subject, but am now confussed...

Do you know anything about the question that was asked or do just hate the MGM and are on a mission to make sure everyone knows it?

You are mistaken. I've enjoyed some good shows at MGM Grand, have spent time there, and enjoy the lion habitat. I just wonder why Celebrity would encourage their cruisers to stay at MGM Grand. I added comments as my humble opinion.

You are correct, MGM owns other properties, not just MGM Grand.

DH has stayed at Monte Carlo for short trips and was happy to be there as they have a food court, good service, and a monorail to Aria at City Center, the new Crystal Shopping Mall, and to Bellagio. Good to head North from Monte Carlo but I do often enjoy a trip over NY/NY's "Brooklyn Bridge" just next door to the fun eateries that are miniatures of some found in NY. Last Fall I had a good time gambling in NY/NY and they have fine shows.

I don't know why this thread is on the Celebrity board, except to get post about RCL partnering with MGM and wondering if Celebrity does also.

I posted my opinion about the MGM Grand rather than the collective properties of MGM which you call MLife.

You'll have a wonderful time in Las Vegas no matter where you spend time, it's a 2x a year destination for us.

I have not stayed at the MGM in Las Vegas - so I don't really know much about it.

I live near Detroit and we frequent the MGM Detroit.

I was hoping to find out if Celebrity has the same type of relationship with MGM that RCCL has. As previously posted -

Thanks for your input - I will post if we find anything out about it.

I received a

Royal Caribbean flyer regarding Quantum of the Seas, & it contains information about a promotion which runs to May 25th. It is for 20% off rooms@ 10 MGM resorts, including Bellagio, NY NY, Luxor, MGM Grand, & others. In addition you get up to $200 resort credit, depending on resort. I followed the link http://www.MGMResorts.com/RoyalOffer2013, found that you have to book by 5/25 & travel before July 30. A room for 3 nights @ Bellagio was $136 per night, min 2 night stay, & $200 resort credit. Other resorts have varying credits. There is also the usual restrictions that come with these offers when you read the fine print. Once you are on the site, there is no questions about your C & A membership. I would imagine that anyone can book. I don't know if the rate is a good one--never been to Vegas,& really no desire to go.

From what I can figure out it looks like the relationship is between Corporate Royal Caribbean and Corporate MGM Resorts.

I've had only one cruise on RCCL and several on Celebrity...am at the "Select" level with Celebrity.

In January I received a letter from RCCL Corporate letting me know about the new partnership with MGM Resorts (MGM Corporate). Based upon my Select level status I apparently qualify to be at the "Pearl" level with MGM Resorts. So it does look like the cruises you take with Celebrity are taken into acccount in this new corporate partnership.

Like other posters have said MGM Resorts includes several properties in Las Vegas, the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino being just one of them. (If you are not a Vegas enthusiast it will be confusing. For example, Caesars Entertainment is the corporate name for not only Caesars Hotel & Casino but also includes Paris, Bally's, Harrah's, etc.)

When I reach Elite level with Celebrity I will be bumped up to the next level with MGM Resorts.

Don't yet know about what this all gives you on a cruise but the Pearl level with MGM Resorts gives you a line pass at the Buffets which, if you've ever seen the line at Bellagio, is worth its weight in gold lol. Plus you get better offers for their various resorts.

If you don't already have one of the MGM Resorts club cards you can sign up for one on-line...get into their loyalty program system and see what happens!

It's a good thing! :D

I think it is because you are gold on Royal you are Pearl with MGM. When we reach Elite status with X you will be diamond status with Royal, therefore you will be moved up.

But I could be totally wrong.

DH upgraded our players card with MGM resorts by obtaining our players card number from Bellagio (since we were previously carded), and taking our Celebrity Captains Club AND Royal Caribbean Crown and Anchor Club member numbers to his desk. He had to call Celebrity and Royal Caribbean to get upgraded on his Bellagio card.

After too much time finding numbers, on-line and making phone calls, WE CAN GO TO THE FRONT OF THE BUFFET LINE AT BELLAGIO, Aria and Monte Carlo!!!!

Sorry I don't know more about the process but it could be a deal that works some way for you.

FYI, The best line for the MGM M/Life promotion is the Royal Caribbean "Crown and Anchor" Club Customer Service number given at the Royal Caribbean Lines website. Sorry, I don't have the #.

DH said they arranged for him to pick up his new M/Life card at a Players Club Booth at any MGM Casino Resort. Our upgraded player cards will be at Bellagio, but any MGM booth should do.

Our casino here, River's Casino in Pittsburgh, has an agreement with Royal Caribbean where you can get free cruises if you're a Signature Card member in their player's club. I asked if there is an agreement with Celebrity, seeing they're part of the RCI family, and I was told no, it only involves cruises on Royal Caribbean ships. They used to have the agreement with NCL, but they changed it last year to Royal.

Must be a very long time since you've been to the MGM because the Lion Habitat is long gone.

Mandalay Bay and Bellagio are part of the MGM-Mirage group -- same card, same point level and points can be earned at these resorts as well. MGM-Mirage (or MLife) applies to Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, NYNY, MGM Grand, Mirage, Monte Carlo -- think that is it for Vegas.

I haven't heard about this. We are Gold level at MGM -- and 2 cruises away from Elite on Celebrity. I am going to take proof of the status on Celebrity to Vegas next time and see where that gets me. Gold status has gotten us so many benefits in Vegas....including comped rooms -- and upgrades to suites once there all the time. I have to check out the websites and see if there are any perks I might be missing out on.
