Rare uktog Posted May 8, 2013 #26 Share Posted May 8, 2013 Whilst sad to see one much loved performer move on, I think Azamara is concentrating on developing its entertainment bench strength. As in all games, sometimes we do not like who has been added to the bench and who is no longer included (personally I would have preferred harpists on that bench). I really would like to see a wide range of good piano bar entertainers, singers (yes Bruce Parker is fab) and other duos on that bench so we do not get into a situation that Celebrity and others have got into that there is only one or two entertainers frequent cruisers want to sail with and no one else seems to satisfy that group. Jim was great, as was Carlos Avalon (not sure if he is still around) but as long as that bench has strength and depth, I will be very happy and it is nice to be introduced to new acts each time you cruise. I would hate it if I got to the stage I knew all the acts and gags!
Jade13 Posted May 8, 2013 #27 Share Posted May 8, 2013 Have just booked Quest for Xmas Cruise. This will be our 3rd Azamara cruise and Jim Badger is a necessary requirement. Cant believe this news that he's gone. Wont be the same. I would never go on any cruise expecting a specific entertainer, nor expect a specific entertainer to be a necessary requirement. Andy Posted May 8, 2013 #28 Share Posted May 8, 2013 I would never go on any cruise expecting a specific entertainer, nor expect a specific entertainer to be a necessary requirement. I agree Jade. Nothing against Jim Badger or any other entertainer, but we'd never book a Cruise for 1 specific performer. We love Perry Grant on Celebrity, but we've sailed on other ships when they fit our schedule. Favorite entertainers are a good thing... but not a deal-breaker for us. I would hate it if I got to the stage I knew all the acts and gags! We became friends with Carlos when he played on Journey. He was on X Infinity the past couple of summers in Alaska, but now he is concentrating on land gigs as well as a motorcycle business. He is still doing a few X gigs here and there. Bill Leiber Posted May 9, 2013 #30 Share Posted May 9, 2013 Hello Readers - I've heard back from hotel operations and I can officially confirm to you that our piano entertainment has not been discontinued. Jim Badger is not returning for personal reasons. On both vessels, the piano will be located in the Casino Bar and the piano on the Azamara Journey will be returned to that location. As always, thank you for sharing your opinions about all aspects of the Azamara experience which I share with our executive management. Sincerely, Bill Leiber _____________________ Chief Blogging Officer* Azamara Club Cruises (*CBO is an authorized and compensated representative of ACC)
excitedofharpenden Posted May 9, 2013 #31 Share Posted May 9, 2013 I would never go on any cruise expecting a specific entertainer, nor expect a specific entertainer to be a necessary requirement. I agree. I liked Jim, but there is waaay more to Azamara than him. Of course it's great to have choices. Phil
Rare oddjob16 Posted May 9, 2013 #32 Share Posted May 9, 2013 Only been to one Azamara cruise and Jim was on the Journey with CD Andy. Fantastic team. Then again, - would have loved to see Jim on our next cruise, but never expected it since we knew he was basically touring with Quest. Looking forward to another experience when we board in Istanbul for a B2B with Journey in June. If Jim was on board it would be great, but nice to have some different entertainers so that we can have the diversity. Johannes will be the Captain and Eric CD, so if what I have heard is correct, we are in for a few great weeks. I am sure the piano player will be top notch.
