Carnival Freebies?

Recommended Posts

The last time I went on a cruise, I came across a thread that discussed little known freebies that Carnival would give out if a request was made. For example, one could get a deck of cards from the bursar's desk, free lanyards were passed out at some of the bars. Anything that some of you more experienced cruisers have come across?

I haven't heard of this, but I'm very curious to learn how .. : )

Playing cards are still available for FREE at guest services desk, so are post cards & ink pens.

We usually go to CASINO for FREE Lanyards.

I get a few decks of cards & take them home for souvenirs.

Playing cards are not free anymore.

WOW! When did they start that?

They were Free last yr on Magic.(The cards with the LOGO on them were Free.... The "CASINO" cards were $1-$2/Deck.)

On the casino lanyards, some of them will only give them out if you are actively playing slots at the time. It's been a couple years, but they refused to give my MIL one unless she was actually sitting at a slot machine and playing.

I think you can still get a free glass of champagne at the art auction,

but I'm not positive. It's been a few years since we went to one. ===> Good Lad!

You'll pay dearly for that "free" glass of low-quality Champagne.

The sheer drivel they "spiel" and boredom will be what you pay.

Once attended, twice shy....but you'll see! ;)

I love the art auctions - I find watching people rack up ridiculous amounts of money on the same "original" art that's available on any other ship in the fleet and stacked in multiples in the store room rather entertaining... yes, I have a mildly evil side. :D

Other than that, the only thing I can think of is the free stuff that they give away at the port talks...

Oh, and if you grovel to JH, you might get a fruit basket and ship on a stick... ;)

When you "rent" your cabin, you get a Free view of the ocean...

Lanyards are given out freely in the casino area prior to it opening the first day. They will punch your card, and put it on the leash in hopes you will stick it in the slot machines. One note on that, you can get cash with no ATM fee (up to $300) put on the slot machine, cash out and then go to the cashiers cage and submit your "winnings" slip for cash. You do not have to play a cent but that's what they hope you will do.

Have gotten the cork screw and cards on different ships.

I've heard of people that thought the Main Dining room was a fee but not true.

yes, free champaigne at the art auction. It was the MOST boring thing I've ever done. I left before it was over. They'd even bring out a piece....start the bidding.....no one would bid.....they said thank you....and everyone clapped wildly. I thought "What? no one even bought that?!". Rediculous. I'll never attend another.

I asked about a deck of cards on the Paradise & told no.

I'm not so sure about the corkscrew. When I requested one in April, our steward on the Pride told me to check with room service or take the bottle to one of the bars. I ended up buying an inexpensive corkscrew in Nassau. FYI - the extra bottle I ordered from Bon Voyage had a screw cap.

I went to the Art Auction once because I wanted a free glass of champagne. When I saw that I would have to wait forever for it, I got up and left. Not worth it.

Ha!

It amazes me how folks will ask JH for free stuff.

Hey, if you want a ship on a stick, play trivia or actually take part in some activity.

As for the fruit basket, who really needs more food on a cruise or a basket of fruit when you can get it at the buffet?

This was our first cruise with our son. He went to camp and (of course you have to be a child!) got a free fun ship freddy t-shirt the first night at orientation, a free t-shirt to decorate one afternoon and a free little bag of pencils, pencil sharpener, paper, eraser, etc. all with Carnival logos on it. Plus free little art projects he worked on different afternoons that we get to keep as wonderful keepsakes of our cruise!

May not be the free stuff you were looking for, but thought I would share!

a free t-shirt to decorate one afternoon

Ah, now that brings back memories.. Our oldest (24 now) was a wee one who got a T-Shirt to decorate. She did it all up in lots of colors, got people to sign it and wore it til it basically fell apart 10 years later... plus a bit stretched out! She did not wear all the time but occasionally she would put it on and we all would start to remember... She still has part of it in one of her sculptures.

The free cards at guest services depends on what ship you're on. I went to the desk on Fascination and asked about them, and they don't have them. They directed me to the casino where you can buy a used deck of cards.

Talk about maximizing revenue...selling used casino cards...I'm actually impressed! :D
