Another Carnival ship to go down under?

Reports on some groups on facebook say that Carnival Legend will be heading down to Australia, anyone else heard this?

I don't think any ship will go for awhile because they have to be converted to a cash system like the Spirit was 1st before they could go. But the rumors are running rampant that another ship is going. Some say that it is going to be the Miracle. I say don't believe until it is true.

Why a cash system ?

I can't see them sending another Spirit Class ship Down Under.

With the Spirit already there, it makes more sense to send a vessel within a different class to add variety and choice.

We are booked on the Miracle for April 2014 (Hawaii), so I can't see them moving this ship prior to then (hopefully not at all !).

Well I guess the it is going to be the Legend in Sept (does not state if it is 2013 or 2014) but if the dry dock is in 2014 I would think then I would be Sept of 2014.

Why a cash system? Someone asked. It is the same thing Carnival had to do to the Spirit the Aussies like to only deal in cash.

Why does carnival spirit not show up on the carnival website? Can Americans not book Aus. cruises through carnival? I am confused. I would like to go on a cruise in Aus. I see the booking options on the Aus. site, but not carnival directly

You have to book the Australian cruises directly on the Carnival Australia website. They cannot be booked on the US Carnival website.

I don't believe it for a second. Not going to happen.
Neither do I.

If it was one of those older boats with the life-boats held high about 150 ft. above water level :D

I'd say Yes, and you're welcome to it!

But one of the newer ships? Unlikely.

Here is some more info I found if anyone is curious.

Carnival will be announcing they are porting a second ship in Sydney. It’s the Carnival Legend, which is the younger sister ship to Carnival Spirit.

The Legend will be a seasonal porting, meaning it will be here from Sep 2014 for a 6 month summer stint.

The sailings will be similar to the Spirit (ie South Pacific) but will likely have some 3-4 night itineraries.

She’ll be going into dry dock prior to coming here and will be “Aussie–fied”.

Bookings will be available from 28 May

You heard it here first!

All cruise ships here in Australia operate cashless.

The Aussification involves power sockets ( we use 240 volts and a different socket) gaming machines, food ans beverages, things like that

That's how they operate in the US also...I guess I don't understand Grouchpuss's comment. Maybe converting USD to AUD.

I was on the Spirit last year on it's repo, all the way from Seattle to Sydney.

They did change out gambling machines, and added new sockets in the rooms. They also put upper door locks on the balcony doors.

What I liked on the Australian leg, was the addition of of Espresso/Cappuccino machines in the buffet (free).

Cash in ATM's and casinos was still in USD's, all the way to Sydney. I think the money conversion was all done after the Spirit was in Sydney Harbor for a couple of days before it sailed again.

I absolutely loved Sydney, and hoping to spend more time in Australia this time, seeing more of the beautiful continent.
