sparky-elpaso Posted May 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2013 The shops on the ship will have them - nice since they have the cruise line name on them. Or any store that carries office type stuff - for ID cards.
SuitCaseBears Posted May 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2013 Amazon has both the lanyards and the holders either together or separately. Most office supply stores have them but usually in bulk. YOu need to decide whether you want just the lanyard and most cruise lines will punch a hold in your Sea Pass or Cruise Card so you can just clip it to your lanyard or whether you want a lanyard and a holder so you can put some note cards or whatever else or whatever in it. Krazy Kruizers Posted May 12, 2013 #7 Share Posted May 12, 2013 JMO But I would never wear one. First -- if you are walking around in the port yourself -- you are advertising that you are a cruise ship person -- open for people pestering you to take a tour of the island. Second -- if you bend over, they can catch onto something and when you go to rise, not knowing that the lanyard is caught onto something, you can jerk your neck and head. I don't wear my seapass when I go on shore. But then I'm carrying some sort of bag anyway. But on the ship I don't always carry anything else with me. And everyone already KNOWS I'm on a cruise. If I'm just going for a walk I just wear it out. If I'm going to look at things in the shop and bending over etc. I tuck it inside my top. Very much a personal preference but it is absolutely true one needs to think first if they even WANT to carry their seapass that way. I think before my first cruise I would have said I wouldn't do it. But after a few group trips where we had to wear our ID cards, I got so used to the convenience that I like having a lanyard with me.

t60 Posted May 13, 2013 #11 Share Posted May 13, 2013 Princess used to give out free Players Club lanyards from the casino on their cruises. On our last cruise in March they´d stopped. We were on Dawn princess out of Australia, so it might be just an OZ thing. Sandy in Spain

gators70 Posted May 13, 2013 #14 Share Posted May 13, 2013 We prefer the lanyard with the small pouch. Our TA provided one for our fisrt cruise and we are on our third set. DW loves that they will hold ship card, ID, lip gloss, and her smaill digital camera. Lanyards/pouches are great for the kids, too. We ALL know that kids are good at misplacing things. Even though you'll be recognized as a tourist anyway I do recommend wearing them inside of your shirt in ports. Not to hide the fact that your a tourist, but for safety's sake/removing temptation from the snatch and runners.
griffy116 Posted May 13, 2013 #15 Share Posted May 13, 2013 On shore, we just tuck them under our shirt to avoid them getting stuck on stuff when we bend over, but it's just too easy when you are juggling all the things you've bought to pull the lanyard out and show it when you board the ship. To the ones that feel it labels you as a tourist: They easily recognize you as a tourist without having to depend on a lanyard. It's not really what gives away THAT secret :eek:! the_journeyman Posted May 13, 2013 #16 Share Posted May 13, 2013 I've got a little waterproof holder on a lanyard I won doing Karaoke on the Sovereign of the Seas back in 2002. It holds SeaPass, and a few other cards/cash and is 100% waterproof. I've swam many times with it. On the boat it's usually around my neck. In port, it's in a pocket (no bigger than a wallet) with the loop slipped through a belt loop or something on my clothes. JM

We got 2 from a Navy recruiter and they work great.

lady_cruiser Posted May 15, 2013 #20 Share Posted May 15, 2013 As someone mentioned most cruiselines has both kinds, those with a plastic holder to slip in your seapass card and ones with a clip if you get them punched at guest services. We figured for only $5.00 and to have the cruiseline's name embrossed on them is inexpensive to bring home a cheap souvenir. And we also use them back home when we go to the casinos to hold our players' cards inplace.
RN4Nsy Posted May 19, 2013 #21 Share Posted May 19, 2013 I got mine on ebay. I also tuck mine inside shirt on shore. Holds drivers license n credit card. On board I will pop 20 bucks into it for my casino visit!
Guest maddycat Posted May 19, 2013 #22 Share Posted May 19, 2013 I have seen these about for holding your seapass card, where can you get them please. ? I can see from your signature that you'll be sailing on Royal Caribbean. They have a good selection in the logo gift shop on board RCI ships. Wait until you get on the ship and buy yourself a souvenir.
