Emarking in FL??

I am looking to cruise out of the east coast of FL in February.

 

Wondering if there is a major difference in the ports of Miami and Fort Lauderdale in regard to the ease of getting in and out of the port, customs, etc.

I think they really are both about equal.

 

People used to complain about Miami but it is much improved from a few years ago.

From NJ you can fly to either and you can get to either port from either airport. So if you are sailing from Miami, and see a good flight to Fort Lauderdale go for it.

From your list of past cruises, it appears that you favor Carnival. I have not sailed from Miami in a very long time--1979--but frequently sail from Port Everglades. If you are sailing on Carnival Freedom, I think you will find embarkation and disembarkation to be a satisfactory experience.

 

If you are sailing on Celebrity Eclipse from Port Everglades, that ship will likely dock at Pier 25 and the disembarkation experience is the worst I, and many others, have ever experienced. Embarkation was OK; disembarking, it took me 90 minutes once off the ship to get to my car. Long lines and chaos!
