Duck Duck Cruise Posted May 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2013 We want to use a forward public area for sail away and wonder if the Grand has one. We have used these areas on other ships and they have been under the bridge are usually not too large, but are so nice to have a spot like that away from the crowds. Thanks, Lin
paul929207 Posted May 14, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2013 Check the One 5 and the area in front of it. They are on deck 15.

Thanks, Lin[/quote] Yes, indeed she does. It is on the 7th deck (Promenade?) The area is called the "Whales Mouth" and is well protected and generally quiet. We spent a good part of our time there bird watching, whale and dolphin watching during our recent cruise to Hawaii. They do close the area off when the weather is rough and also around dusk. If you're walking on Promenade forward to need to go up a flight of stairs to deck 8 to continue.
skynight Posted May 14, 2013 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2013 Another area to try, Walk all the way forward on deck 15. A few steps up and you are on top of the bridge. Sometimes this area is open, sometimes it isn't.

I believe there is a doorway from the forward end of one of the hallways on deck 8 as well as the access from deck 7 stairway.

It's also the only way to fully circumnavigate the ship while walking the Promenade. I don't believe there are any "public" doorways in this area. However there is one for crew.
