Italian Wine Suggestion ???

We are booked for a 9-night cruise on Legend (Venice to Barcelona) in October. I was wondering if anyone has any good Italian wine suggestions for our 2 bottle carry on. Are there any good wine sellers close to the cruise terminal in Venice?

mmmmmm Limoncello.....there's a restaurant here that makes a limoncello torte/cake that is divine

No, limoncello is not a wine. You cannot take it onboard with you. You will have to indulge in some lovely cafés on shore!

Red or white?

Barolo is excellent red wide, or try Berbera - it's cheaper. For white, try Soave, as it comes from this region

My fave is Ruffino Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico from the Tuscany region of Italy. Maybe you could get your hands on a bottle of that in Italy cheap! It's pretty pricey here:(

yes we would second a Barolo or one of our favourite wines from anywhere is Amarone which is from the Veneto

We like Fontana Candida Frascati. It is produced outside of Rome. I picked up some once while there, toted it for thousands of miles, and then found it at home at Publix (lots cheaper!):eek:

In terms of the wines, ask for recommendations at the wine store. That is what we do and we have been very pleased.
