First Aid kit

I always take a small first aid kit on vacation with the usual stuff, painkillers, antiseptic cream, band aids etc. should I are anything else on our trip to China? Am considering asking our doc for a prescription for a wide-spectrum antibiotic to take with us just in case. Any advice?

Imodium and hand sanitiser gel is a good idea.

 

Also some small packs of tissues.

 

I loved my recent trip to China, but the toilets are........um, well interesting :eek:

 

......and the food might not agree with western constitutions :D

Agree....the "squatty potty's" are not friendly :eek:...However look for the handicapped stalls they sometimes have a western toilet ;)

Aside from the necessary medications, I always bring along a box of alcohol swabs with me, (the kind that's used mostly by diabetic patients) even before I became a diabetic patient. They only sell for a dollar something a box and just wiping utensils down before meals help me ease my worries. Sometimes things are not as clean as they look.

If you can get antibiotics from your doctor, by all means, do it.

A common practice is to ask for a large bowl and a pot of hot water (for the whole table) to rinse your table utensils, bowls. May seem strange, but the waitstaff will be used to it.;)

There is a lot of pollution in China I would take some items for allergies and even to relieve cold like symptoms like throat lozenges. The pollution is really bad in some of the cities.
