I asked on a thread some while ago about happy hour and such - like two for one but it appears that doesn't happen-so hope this helps

We are pre paying our onboard credit so we can spend spend spend - on drinks of course ;)

Does anyone know if princess has a drink package other than the soda package ??? Like RCCL does
No alcoholic drink package other than a wine or beer package.

However, Princess drink prices are very reasonable compared to RCCL. For instance, a Long Island Iced Tea is $5.50 (US), a martini is about $7, etc. Here's a page from one of the drink menus to give you can idea:

Princess wine per bottle prices are better than on RCL where I needed their wine package to get prices similar to Princess' non-wine package prices & with the Princess wine packages they're even less expensive.

Do all Princess ships have Wine Packages...specifically the Emerald
It's been hit or miss, even on the same ship. It wasn't available on the Diamond from Beijing-to-Whittier last month but is available on the Diamond now.

Princess seems to be the lone hold out on Drink Packages of the main stream lines. Not sure why!

I'm sure that Princess has analyzed drink packages for their passengers & have decided it may not be profitable for them. As Pam has said many times drink packages are not offered to be nice but to increase profits.

I feel that eventually there will be a lawsuit when someone gets so intoxicated that they get injured. There's already a lawsuit by a Carnival passenger who claims she was encouraged to get drunk by giving $5 casino coupons for each drink purchased. She claims that caused her to "fall overboard" from her balcony even though reports say there are videos of her climbing on the rail & jumping.

I would think that liability & profits are considerations when any cruise line decides whether to offer alcoholic dink packages...risk vs. benefit.

Seeing as Princess can't even roll out a Wine Package across the fleet, I'm not sure it has anything to do with "profit". Carnival, HAL, RCL, Celebrity, NCL, Azamara, Oceania all have drink packages. With the other Carnival Brands participating, I'm sure if it were a safety issue, non of them would be.

That could be true but not all Carnival Corporation cruise lines follow the same procedures.

The bottom line for any business is profits & that's for the bean-counters at Princess to decide if it's good for their profits.

Drink packages are implemented to make money for the cruise line. Follow the money. They don't offer packages to be "nice" but because there's so much slippage that most people are paying for the convenience and don't save money. Food for thought.

As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for.
