Oasis/Oasis Class going to China(Hong Kong)?

Recommended Posts

In a recent video about Hong Kong's new port there is a ship pictured that is strikingly familiar as Oasis of the Seas. It also has Oasis written on the side of this ship (:26-:30). Granted, this is a computer rendered concept video, but is this proof that a deal has been struck to send Oasis to Asia? What are your thoughts? Here is the link to the video..

We were told, some time ago, at dinner with HD John on Monarch, that the 3rd Oasis class ship would be home ported in Hong Kong. We've posted this previously on CC. No surprise here. And most likely will have the biggest casino ever at sea.

Well, maybe Mariner will come back to the US once China gets Oasis 3.:)

Hmmm! Very interesting video, I have read about that new terminal, it should be beautiful but is it even being built anymore? That video was posted way back in 2011 which also brings up the point that Oasis III wasn't probably even thought of back then.

Also I don't think the China market is big enough for an Oasis class ship yet, to have it be home ported there is impossible!!

Exciting thought. I hope that comes true. It all depends on how the Chinese market grows.

Singapore is not too far from Hong Kong!!

In a similar vein, the new Marina Bay Cruise Terminal in Singapore was designed to be able to accommodate the Oasis-class too.

Well i was reading this article and it said "Once the terminal is fully operational in 2015, you'll be able to take great photographs of the Oasis-class cruise liners coming into berth. Built at a cost of S$1.55 billion, and 360 metres long, these are the largest passenger ships in the world."

So i don't think our region is far off from an oasis class ship. Apparently 2015  thats coming soon! can't wait. Hopefully they make 7 night itineraries like the caribbean!

The article is here:

I have heard that too. This also gives RCI an opportunity to build the ship for that market. As you stated a larger casino with private gaming and many more shopping areas. No surprise for me either if they announce her home port in Asia.

The Asian market currently has two Voyager class vessels in Asia. An Oasis class can easily replace one or both. If you read the various trade journals Asia is currently very high on all major cruise lines list for expansion. A lot of money to be made in this market.

Apparently I heard from one of the waiters in the MDR on Mariner that 2 new ships will be added to the region next year ( this year). This was during my December sailing.

And one of these might very well be the Explorer Of The Seas. This from a less knowledgeable "hotel director source" than the more reliable "waiter source!"

One thing we know for sure is that a lot of shifting is going to take place throughout the fleet for 2015-2016

From reports and speculation the Explorer will be headed to Asia after it's dry dock period. When the third Oasis Class ship is completed look for one of the three to go to Port Canaveral.

I noticed last week that the Explorer now has cruises scheduled until March. I was away and not sure if it had already been posted.

Looks like she is not in Drydock till at least March 12.
