Booking a specific cabin

We have booked a specific cabin - if we say we would like an upgrade do you have to take it or will Hal contact you or your travel agent and ask you. We have done guarantee cabins and I know they can assign those right up to departure time. Has any one stayed in the I cabins on the Maasdam on the Veranda deck? Any pros and cons. Thanks :)

If you makred 'will accept upgrade', that means they can upgrade you at will.

Many mark 'no upgrade' as they really want the cabin they specifically booked.

Thanks Sail - that is what I suspected. will stay with what we have ...:)

We choose our balcony cabins very carefully based on things like deck #, the view being unobstructed, having cabins above and below us, proximity to stairs or elevators. (Being underneath a public area has seemed to be a nocturnal noise issue).

An upgrade would have to be really good to fill our "needs" :D

We choose a particular cabin and "do not upgrade," but tell out TA we would be interested in upsells. On our Prinsendam Amazon Explorer we booked an "E" for the location because we were unfamiliar with the ship, then we were given an upsell to an "A" verandah which we couldn't refuse! We were even given our choice of staterooms.

Our TA has also given upgrades (she always calls HAL to see what they may offer, or she gets an email from HAL) with a choice of staterooms, even though we would have been happy with our originally booked room.
