Bluwater7 Posted June 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2013 We have booked a specific cabin - if we say we would like an upgrade do you have to take it or will Hal contact you or your travel agent and ask you. We have done guarantee cabins and I know they can assign those right up to departure time. Has any one stayed in the I cabins on the Maasdam on the Veranda deck? Any pros and cons. Thanks :)
sail7seas Posted June 15, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2013 If you makred 'will accept upgrade', that means they can upgrade you at will. Many mark 'no upgrade' as they really want the cabin they specifically booked.

summersigh Posted June 15, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2013 We choose our balcony cabins very carefully based on things like deck #, the view being unobstructed, having cabins above and below us, proximity to stairs or elevators. (Being underneath a public area has seemed to be a nocturnal noise issue). An upgrade would have to be really good to fill our "needs" :D
Loreto Posted June 15, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 15, 2013 We choose a particular cabin and "do not upgrade," but tell out TA we would be interested in upsells. On our Prinsendam Amazon Explorer we booked an "E" for the location because we were unfamiliar with the ship, then we were given an upsell to an "A" verandah which we couldn't refuse! We were even given our choice of staterooms. Our TA has also given upgrades (she always calls HAL to see what they may offer, or she gets an email from HAL) with a choice of staterooms, even though we would have been happy with our originally booked room. AZNative2000 Posted June 16, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 16, 2013 Like others, we mark our booking "No Upgrade" but our PCC knows to call with any and all upsell offers. Those come with a choice to accept or not as well as a cabin selection.:) Cheers!
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 16, 2013 #7 Share Posted June 16, 2013 We also prefer to book the cabin that we want. There have been a few stories here from people about getting upgraded to a cabin that they were not happy with.
Rare Keith1010 Posted June 16, 2013 #8 Share Posted June 16, 2013 We prefer specific cabin. Keith
doublebzz Posted June 16, 2013 #9 Share Posted June 16, 2013 It generally costs substantially more to book a specific cabin. If cabin location is not that important, why not book a "guarantee" and save the bucks?
