Rallytime1975 Posted June 18, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2013 We are scheduled for a stop to Bridgetown Barbados We have never been here before, and we are looking for suggestions on what to see and do. We have found great places from others on CC, and we are looking for your suggestions once again! Thanks in advance!
Aplmac Posted June 18, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2013 Your first time here? Two words. ISLAND TOUR. That way you get to see most everything worth seeing. Next visit you can specialise a bit more, based on what you saw the first time. .
Loving My Life Posted June 18, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2013 Swim with the turtles. I highly recommend Calabaza - of my favorite excursions ever! There are plenty of threads on here, just do a search for Calabaza.
gubby Posted June 18, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2013 I agree about the island tour. This is a beautiful island and there are lots of fabulous sites. The easiest way is to grab a taxi as you exit the ship. Try to get another couple to go with you to share the cost and negotiate a price beforehand. Try to get another couple to go with you to share the cost and negotiate a price beforehand. Get three or four like-minded couples together and use one of those ten-seater van things! That'll make it worth the while of the taxi driver and keep costs down, per head? .

Rare Keith1010 Posted June 22, 2013 #8 Share Posted June 22, 2013 If you like to walk you can walk from the cruise ship terminal to the downtown area. We walk on a path along the water most of the way. You can visit many sites once in town including a very old church, one of the oldest synagogues in North America and also visit various markets and see the parliament building along with other sites. prekcruiser Posted June 23, 2013 #9 Share Posted June 23, 2013 I agree, an island tour is the best. You can arrange a beach stop at Carlisle bay or another beach. The taxi drivers will take you pretty much whereever you want to go. I would highly recommend Tyrone Griffith. He gave us a tour of the island last week. I got his name off of Cruise Critic and I was very pleased.

Keith That's Nidhe Israel Synagogue. It is one of the oldest in the Western Hemisphere. They just closed last week and will be closed for a few months for archaeology excavations. We always take a private tour guide and really only had 1 issue, and that was with the type of van they put us in. It seemed at times we had to help push it. That was in Isla Roatan (I think). Thanks, Mitch......
