Maybe A Silly Question?

After we disembark from the Ecstasy, we board the Dream 2 days later. If we have money left on our OBA (always use cash), can we take that check and use it to set up our OBA for Dream cruise when we check in? Will Carnival take their own check back?

Yes Carnival will take their own check back at the purser's desk. You can cash it before you get off the first leg of your cruise.

You are not talking about getting anything back from an OBC, right? Just your OBA -- money you yourself put onto your card.

I have always thought OBC's were 'non-refundable" so to speak -- if you don't use it, you lose it." I am right on that, aren't I?

Just want to make sure I am not missing something...

It actually depends on the type of OBC and what you have OBC from. Some types of OBC are actually refundable for cash...or you can carry it over to another cruise I do believe...

Some OBC is refundable but OP did say OBA.

OBC from price drops is refundable. OBC from cash deposits to your account is refundable. OBC from things such as Cruise Cash is non-refundable (though there are ways to get it through the casino before the account is closed the last night).

Care to share how?

Instead of this... I go to the pursers desk and ask for the money left over in cash.. well it only happened once.

But cash out in cash the last night rather than wait for the check and then go and try to cash it.

Actually, all types of OBC are refundable........with a little knowledge and work. If you have OBC, go to the casino and pop your S&S into a machine (any one, i use slots). Add enough money to your casino account to offset or match the OBC. Pull your card out and then "cash out" at the casino teller. OBC is now used and you have cash in hand. :)

I believe they stopped doing the checks. On my Sensation cruise, the purser told me they weren't giving out checks for unused OBC anymore. I had to present my state ID and Sail & Sign card, and they gave me the amount in cash. I prefer it that way, to be honest. It gives me the funds to eat lunch in the airport before my flight home, and spares me the hassle of going to a bank to deposit the check. Heck, my chore list is already full from washing dirty laundry, cooking dinner for the following week, and organizing cruise photos.

In your case, since you're a back-to-back, just carry the cash off the ship, then when you check in for the next cruise, deposit it right back. I don't believe there's a way to make the OBC roll over from one cruise to the next, but then again, I've never done a B2B.

Go to a slot machine, add the funds from your S&S acct to your casino acct. play a pull or two and cash out. Go to the casino cage and cash out your casino acct.
