tmyersc Posted July 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 4, 2013 Hello all! This my first time on Holland America Line. I will be sailing on the Westerdam on Saturday. My question is this are there hair dryers in the stateroom? Thank you in advance.
RuthC Posted July 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 4, 2013 Yes, there are hair dryers in every cabin on every HAL ship. Unless it's been changed since I sailed the Westerdam (three years ago), the hair dryer in my cabin was hard wired into the desk (iirc). That was the only cabin where I remember the dryer was hard wired.

Krazy Kruizers Posted July 4, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 4, 2013 There are Hair dryers in all cabins on all ships. Now -- I have had some that were great and others -- should have been thrown overboard. We have sailed on the same ship -- same cabin -- one time the hair dryer was great -- just a few months later -- horrible.
Typhoon1 Posted July 5, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 5, 2013 Yes, under the desk. They are not top quality, but they will get the job done.
KirkNC Posted July 5, 2013 #6 Share Posted July 5, 2013 They are there but they do get mixed reviews from my DD and DW.
Skorpora Posted July 5, 2013 #7 Share Posted July 5, 2013 They have a curly cord that I found to be too short. I also have a lot of hair, and my own dryer does a much better job. Having said that, luggage space is at a premium, so I leave mine at home and use the one provided. Your hair is pretty much ruined when you step outside anyway - verrrry windy on a moving ship. Hair clips and ponytail elastics are your best friends :) Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
Golferboy18 Posted July 5, 2013 #8 Share Posted July 5, 2013 Bring a small 4-6 foot power bar as there is normally only one plug. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
solocanadian Posted July 5, 2013 #9 Share Posted July 5, 2013 If your hair is very short, the one in the cabin will do. However shoulder length or longer, take your own and a power bar.

sail7seas Posted July 5, 2013 #11 Share Posted July 5, 2013 For the first time ever, we had a hair dryer on Westerdam, which was secured into dressing table drawer but was the style you had to hold the button the whole time it was in use to keep it on. How annoying. Always the others would turn on and off buy customary switch but you didn't have to keep the button pushed while using. I found that annoying.
