hollon Posted July 7, 2013 Author #26 Share Posted July 7, 2013 You didn't say whether that rate at Hyatt House was for a studio, 1 or 2 BR suite. Regardless, all rooms at Hyatt House have full sized kitchens which I believe is added room and convenience. If there is more than two people in your party then the 1 and 2 BR suites are great because they also have 2 bathrooms and a parlor. I got a double suite (as they call it) for four people, but it looks like from website I may not have the kitchen, if we do, that's a hugh plus. So, Hyatt House is nice? Eng23 Posted July 7, 2013 #27 Share Posted July 7, 2013 We've stayed at the Doubletree and also Holiday Inn Express/Cruise Port. The Holiday Inn is in a very dicey area. We walked across the street to McDonalds on our way to that strip mall with the grocery store. A gang fight broke out at McDonalds. It's an area I'd avoid unless you check in and don't venture out of the front door. The Doubletree is a fabulous hotel but next time we'll stay at Embassy Suites because it's closer to the cruise port. The HI Express is right next to the port entrance and only a couple of blocks from the Embassy Suites. The 17th Street area is not a dicey area IMHO. Crime happens anywhere you go in this country. We've stayed there more than once and felt safe walking around......even at night. If you're aware of your surroundings and stay on the main streets all should be OK. cjnix29 Posted July 8, 2013 #29 Share Posted July 8, 2013 I just booked the Hyatt Place for $99 taxes included through Expedia. Found a promo code good for 15% off. EXP15B. I'm sure it would work on any other hotel too, but thought that was a great deal for a hotel with a free airport shuttle, free breakfast and great reviews! I booked a two queen room. There are three of us.

So, Hyatt House is nice? That doesn't make any sense. It's either a studio, a 1 BR or a 2 BR suite. I'm guessing it's just a studio which is basically a normal hotel room with two double beds and a kitchen. All rooms at the Hyatt House have a kitchen. Yes, Hyatt House is nice. You stayed at the "Convention Center" location, on 17th St, near the port. It is confusing. These are very different neighborhoods. Even with that said, plenty of cruisers stay on SR84 and are happy with the area.

Tam Tam Posted July 13, 2013 #33 Share Posted July 13, 2013 We stayed at Hyatt House in May of 2012 and loved it. Hoping to stay there again this December but not loving the price they are currently showing of $189. Any ideas on how to get a lower price at this hotel? Rare crusinthrough Posted July 13, 2013 #34 Share Posted July 13, 2013 We stayed at Hyatt House in May of 2012 and loved it. Hoping to stay there again this December but not loving the price they are currently showing of $189. Any ideas on how to get a lower price at this hotel? I had great luck on last minute travel. Additionally, in a prior post someone mentioned a 15% discount code on Expedia. Hyatt Place directly across the street is nice as well as other have mentioned. The only difference I found between the two is that the Hyatt House has a full kitchen.
Pennstateman Posted December 4, 2013 #35 Share Posted December 4, 2013 I stayed at all of them and you can't go wrong with any of them. We stayed at the Hyatt House last trip and would stay there again.:) Bill Had choice to use Hyatt points or Marriott points for 3 free rooms; chose Hyatt House
Marie51 Posted December 4, 2013 #36 Share Posted December 4, 2013 In 2012 we were on the Allure and paid 104.00, so yes, I was wondering what happend to that good price :) Hotel prices vary depending on when you are there. Some months(spring) are higher rates.
